Caribbean/Faraway Holiday - Recommendations please

Hi everyone
I was hoping to get some advise and recommendations please on holidays..
My partner and I go on holiday usually to Cyprus, although we've also been to places including Gran Canaria, Malta, Portugal, Furtuventura.
We decided later in the year to go further away but are finding ther choice is so vast it's hard to narrow it down! I've read some threads on here and have seen really good feedback on places including Aruba, Jamaica, Barbados, Thailand, Mexico, Bali to name a few!
I would really like to know what you think of where is a good place to visit - we don't think we want to go anywhere too touristy such as Cancun, but maybe I am wrong thinking this way?
It's for 2 weeks all inclusive and looking to go from September - November (quite flexible) - again any tips on best time for island would be useful..
We'd like to pay approx £2,000 and go all inclusive (depending on country - as not sure if better to go B&B in Thailand if plenty of good restaurants).
Would welcome hotel recommendations please..
If anyone would like some information on Cyprus, am happy to write some tips and recommendations.
Thank you in advance :j

Have you considered Cuba? Don't know what you're looking for in a holiday but if you want something unique & different it fits the bill. Varadero has the most beautiful beach I've ever seen, and there are lots of places on the island to visit. £2000 should get you both 2 weeks AI.
Lots of threads on here if you search for Cuba0 -

When I tried a search on Cuba earlier nothing came up, but I tried it again a couple of times after reading your post and saw the posts..
I would definately consider it.. We both like just chilling out, good food, nice cocktails and a little culture - that's why I wasn't sure about Cancun
I don't want to go somewhere that was just so built up and tacky..
Somewhere where you can swim with dolphins will make my other half very happy!!
I will look at trip advisor aswell for hotel reviews but if there are any really good ones you would recommend really appreciate it..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We went to El Dorado Seaside Suites in Riviera Maya in Mexico and it was absolutely fantastic. Hotel is adults only but there are similar resorts which allow children in the immediate area. There's loads to do in easy reach of the hotel, staff were really friendly and it's just a gorgeous area. Particularly recommend a trip to Xel-Ha, it's a huge natural lagoon that you can snorkel in and I didn't want to leave after 6 hours! We went in November, it was hot but not roasting. Summer is hurricane season, so late Sept-November should be a good time to go.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

BTW: It's about 40mins drive from Cancun, so if you wanted to go for a night out or for a wander round it's possible.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

We stayed at the Barcelo Solymar & we loved it. AI, 3 restaurants, great staff, 3 pools and right by the beach. If you end up deciding to stay here I will be happy to email you some photos I took of the hotel but there are over 1400 on trip advisor!
If you only go on 1 excursion make it the jeep safari!0 -
Thank you so much for your tips, really helpful to me..:T
I will be looking at trip advisor to find out more details. I think an adults only hotel would be great for us.
We prefer the temp to be about mid 70's to 80's - hot but confortable!
Love good food, so somewhere that has lovely meal selection in the AI
Is it better to book these holidays through Thompsons or First Choice or somewhere like Carribean Warehouse? Just thinking about things such as direct flights and good seats etc on longhaul..
Previously we've only travelled around Europe so feeling abit nervous to to honest about going that bit further as not done long flights but it's time to go explore :jThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Has anyone been to Aruba at all? How does this compare to some of the places already mentioned..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Have you looked at a cruise?
Not AI and will probably take you over budget by the time you add some of the other expences(drinks trips main ones) but the basic price will be around £800-£900pp and that does include all your food entertainment and flights
Get to see a load of islands so you can look at going back if you liked any.
for aruba try
