thomson flight to dominican last year was lovely. we hadnt booked premium but they phoned us to offer it at a reduced price of about 100 quid each. its worth trying to haggle on the price of premium because if they are having trouble selling them they will do a better price. it was well worth it. champagne on take off and unlimited free drinks, so u can save a lot of money because paying for all your drinks on a long flight wont be cheap. also the premium cabin was nice and secluded from rest of the plane.

Your posts have been really helpful thank you..

Does anyone have any tips on the best months to go to the various resorts please? A friend of mine went to Jamaica in December 07 and said it rained alot so was hoping to avoid this if possible..

I would like any opinions on Jamaica, Mexico and Cuba please?

We would like to go in February/June time ideally but if this isn't the best time we are willing to go during different times of the year..

For example we usually go to Cyprus in May or September as during these months it is warm during the day but comfortable during the evening when you're going for dinner.. Sometimes for dinner you might need a light cardigan or something but we find that better than when we once went in mid June and it was really hot during the day and uncomfortable during the evenings (muggy and humid)...

    hi

I've been to Jamaica twice and Mexico once. Loved them both but i'd go back to Jamaica again and again!

I've been to Couples resorts on both occasions and had an amazing holiday. 5* all inclusive and the quality is superb. Food is amazing and you are really well looked after. Everything is included.
No kids :p adults only resort.
Couples tower isle formally couples ocho rios and couples negril both get good reviews, trip advisor them.
I wanted to go back this year but my b/f says i need to try somewhere new! so we are off to Thailand in September.

Mexcio was lovely, stayed in Cancun but this was a girls holiday whereas jamaica was a romantic couples holiday.

    I booked with https://www.theholidayplace.co.uk

    travelsupermarket.co.uk compare packages

    hope that helps xxx

Not been to Jamaica but been to Mexico 3 times and Cuba once. We have been in Feb, March and April fantastic wether. It was very hot this year in Mexico in April. If you go to Mexico, Riviera Maya is a nice area to stay.
  • [Just to say that ive been to cuba 4 times and enjoyed it people nice but from june to end of november is huiccaine season, but now i think alot of people have come back and not enjoyed it they are not putting so much money into there tourisum. ive just come back from jamaica enjoyed been there 4times as well expensive for trips again hurrican season there to aruba been there twice best place every been to and they hardly every get hit by the hurricans and the island is low down but it is exspensive to go but worth every penny if you go stay at palm beach lots to do and plenty of shops and places to eat if you get fed up with all inclusive option. thailand been once loved it cheap but that was over 10 years ago went to patong beach very nice long flight anyway hope this helps

I was hoping to get some advise and recommendations please on
    holidays..

My partner and I go on holiday usually to Cyprus, although we've also been to places including Gran Canaria, Malta, Portugal, Furtuventura.

We decided later in the year to go further away but are finding ther choice is so vast it's hard to narrow it down! I've read some threads on here and have seen really good feedback on places including Aruba, Jamaica, Barbados, Thailand, Mexico, Bali to name a few!

I would really like to know what you think of where is a good place to visit - we don't think we want to go anywhere too touristy such as Cancun, but maybe I am wrong thinking this way?

It's for 2 weeks all inclusive and looking to go from September - November (quite flexible) - again any tips on best time for island would be useful..

We'd like to pay approx £2,000 and go all inclusive (depending on country - as not sure if better to go B&B in Thailand if plenty of good restaurants).

    Would welcome hotel recommendations please..

If anyone would like some information on Cyprus, am happy to write some tips and recommendations.

    Thank you in advance :j[/QUOTE]

Alot of people still travel to the caribbean during the hurricane season, especially if you are happy to book a last minute deal (cheap and you can check the weather before you go).
We went to St Lucia in July during hurricane season, we did get 1 evening/night of heavy rain due to a hurricane passing by, but the rest of the fortnight was fantastic weather.
We put off Mexico till december (due to the risk of hurricanes) and had 1 whole week of constant rain! Apparently according to locals december weather can be unpredictable, but not usually that bad.
Of your choices I would say Mexico and look at Playa del carmen/Riviera Maya area, you will get alot for your money.
I am looking at Jamaica this year or maybe cuba, but I bet I end up back in Mexico!
    £100 - £10,000
  • ive been to both mexico and jamaica during hurricane/rainy season.

Unlike uk when it rains it's still lovely and hot and rains for about 30 mins then stops. It's actually quite nice and freshens the air.....
    that was Jamaica.

on the flip side of that when we were in Mexico we had a hurricane that narrowly missed the island but we had to spend 24hrs in our bathroom, all patio doors taped up!! Bit scary at the time....but it passed and everything was fine. The sea was a mess though but great for shell and sponge collecting.

It would'nt put me off going to the Caribbean at any time as ive only ad good weather, the rain usually is at night and never lasts for long.

Thanks for all your advise and feedback. It's greatly appreciated. Narrowed it down slightly and are looking to go during the start of October (for 2 wks) or mid Feb 2010 (for 2 wks). Am considering whether to book where I can get the best deal from all the resorts mentioned.

Thailand seems to be a different type of holiday from the AI at other resorts, from what I've read alot of people prefer to go on a B&B basis and eat out and explore more...
