  • Thanks guys. Lots to think about. It's so hard trying to find a resort as when you look at the reviews they are always really mixed! Your ideas have given me somewhere to start though. Cheers
  • Hi Summer glad to hear you had a good time! I'm shocked at your transfer time, were you on a big coach with lots of drop offs? It definitely wasn't 3 hours with us, probably half that but we were only on a small minibus. Please tell me you went to Xel Ha!
Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.

    Hello!

I have my other half persueded into Antigua for June 2010 but I'm having Resort choice difficulty! Had originally chosen Coco Bay with its gorgeous infinity pool perched on a clifftop but when I read further I found out that there was only one all inclusive restaurant and the second one (which you pay for) is closed in June anyway. Plus the cottages that you stay in don't have air con which would just be too much without it!

Can you recommend any resorts? Other half and I like to laze on a resort but additionally like to get out and about a bit in the local towns, perhaps see a few touristy bits without letting it become a military operation of constant activities and once or twice go off resort to a few bars in the evening!

Anyone have any recommendations or ideas?

P.S Just back from Cape Verde and if you like doing ANY of the above it is not for you - there is NOTHING there at all but beach!!

Hi princessamy86 - we were on a coach with over 30 people on it, 12 got off at EDSS alone. Approx 12 also got off at EDR, and some got off at Tucan.

We didn't make it Xel Ha unfortunately due to circumstances but we did get to Tulum, Coba and Playa Del Carmen..

Hi charlearose, I am thinking of a holiday destination for April/May - was considering Kenya but we're not sure and have started to look at Thailand and would really appreciate any additional info when you get back please inc who you booked with.. Which area did you visit this time and is it best to go for B&B and eat out? Some packages are coming up at £700B&B each at 3* hotels.

Hi all, have finally made a decision to look at Jamaica for end May, am hoping the weather will ok as I've been told that you can get rain during June and it might not be worth risking it!! We would plan to return before 10th June though so hopefully will be okay..

Does anyone know what the weather generally is like please? Any trips that are definately worth doing? We are going to stay in an AI resort..

i went to jamaica in april ( easter time ) around 2 years ago weather was really nice hot and sunny few thunderstorms but to be honest they were much needed to cool down

i took my son and niece we stayed at the star fish trelawny in falmouth near montego bay

the hotel - well you either loved it or hated it im still not sure now - it was like butlins in the caribbean totally geared up for kids with climbing wall trapeeze stuff trampolines on the beach and a ice hocky pitch ( in jamaica i kid you not) basketball pitches and a games rooms and water slides - if you had kids then its was paradise you never ever saw them ....

lovely beach and a seperate little island that you could swim/walk to a couple got married on it and it was really romantice and really nice
if you had the bungalows in the grounds then they were really nice and modern if you were in the two towers then not so good - think of two huge high rise london estates only better weather) the best rooms in the towers were on the top floor we moved and have a large corner room on the top floor with amazing views of the sea/ beach but the rooms left a lot to desire in terms of luxury but didnt pay much for two week AI at easter so cant grumble they have renamed this now im sure and it under the breezes group ( pretty sure of this) i wouldnt be happy if i paid full price and didnt have kids but if it was cheap enough then yes it would be fine
Saying that some of the hotels in Jamaica are amazing the bahia principe ( think that the right name looks like cinderellas castle really really gorgeous hotel)
Trips - We did Dunns River great fun even if me and my neice did chicken out and got out half way up Swimmng with the Dolphins and horseriding were two other trips that we did that were really good and worth while

And get used to listening to Bob Marley as you will not hear anything else apart from the man Bob, he will be playing in the airport as you arrive, on the coach as you arrive at your hotel , breakfast lunch dinner snack time you are serenaded by Bob Marley, after two days you will be humming along to One love and No woman ect ect and any trips that you do will have Bob and the Wailers in the background and you will be expected to sing along and know the words :D So you have been warned - if you dont like Bob then take your ipod for you sanity

Im still singing along to Bob Marley songs 2 years later that i didnt even know he sang
