From looking at those photos, you HAVE NOT got a filter installed.

The filter replacement light has come on beacuse the fridge has a basic flowmeter inside (I think!!) - it has reached 1000 litres or whatever it is supposed to require the filter changing at.

There is no filter inside the machine where the white pipe goes through the back panel, ulness your plumber has actually fitted it inside there horizontally. They are meant to be fitted vertically anyway, either on the back of the fridge or somewher else suitable.

Interestingly, this photo confirms my suspicions - several brands of American-style fridge freezer are obviously the same. The Samsung ones are the same as the Daewoo ones!!

We got a Daewoo one from Currys at the end of June, for £512 delivered after discounts - ours is currently £950 including delivery, which is SCARY!!!!

Im not sure there is a filter on (you have the same model as me)... Maybe the water mechanism is getting clogged and it thinks the filter needs replacing (not a lot of water getting to the cooler)...? There wouldent be any space internally for a filter? They are pretty large things...
  • YOu were right, there isn't a filter, I contacted someone who is selling "compatable" filters (£7.45 EACH!) and they have the same fridge

The sodding Plumber never put the filter on after they reviewed the photographs and you are right it should be fitted in between the white cable

I can't thank you enough for your replies you guys are so helpful!

How do you reset the light ?

    reset the light:

If you press ice type and child lock together and hold for a few seconds then the light should go back to green.

Seriously these people are VERY friendly and spent ages on the phone with me helping me out. They put other ebayers to Shame.

My supplier of filters for life are these people!

    Hi everyone,
I just got this fridge freezer and I tried to plumb it last night without success. Got a cold pipe line just behind the fridge but I think I might be missing some parts of the installation kit. As far as I know the fridge has an internal water filter (located in the fridge) and i've also got a white plastic line with some nuts which plugs into another white plastic line coming off the rear of the fridge. I can plug them 2 plastic lines no problem but then how do i plumb them into the cold pipe line. Should I have a packing nut and a pipe clamp? because i dont have any of those. Just some screws, clips and a couple of couplers. I am so confused and dont want to pay a plumber £50 for 10 minutes job....
any help would be much appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi all,

I bought one of these fridges as a result of this thread many years ago.

I have been contacted by Samsung and told that there is a serious defect with these fridges, a man came out today and changed the wiring for free.

Im posting here in case anyone that also bought one has moved /changed telephone numbers and don`t know about the recall.

Thanks so much for posting. I was totally unaware of this. I've just entered all my details on the site and have to wait for an engineer's visit. Thanks again for bringing it to everyone's attention. I only stumbled on this thread though as I was looking for another post of mine - because of the changes made to the subscriptions the other week I never received an email

ETA I've PM'd everyone on this thread who owns one of these !!!!!! - I apologise if you were already aware of the problem. I just wanted to be sure everyone knew :o
