If you're struggling to make those 10 calls, dial 020 7043 1320 (a geographical number for the speaking clock) a few times at the weekend.
Is that 10 calls a month stipulation the same if you've not paid any activation fee (this 12 month one I've signed up for)? Only thing I could find was that we needed to make 2 chargeable calls a month if we took BT's privacy pack?
Never did hear back from the BT rep, and they did take £50 from me, so looks as though they've merged accounts or something.0 -

2 chargeable or inclusive calls per month are enough to 'qualify' for free Caller Display and/or (if you must use it - please don't) basic 1571.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
No, there's no such requirement on a normal 12 month contarct or when you're out of the contract period.

Didn't realise that, but then again would assume most people have at least some basic form of call package? Anyhow I opted out of it anyway as our phone's got an answerphone built in, and i'm more likely to notice a flashing light then pick up the phone and hear the dial tone to be honest.0 -

Well, have had an email back from BT.
They've changed the email address over, but no mention of this £50 that they've taken (will kick off big time if it doesn't come off the first bill), and no mention of whether the quidco will still work. As far as I could tell the first transaction had failed, but obviously not if they took £50 off my mastercard. Apparently there's no duplicate order, yet the quidco tracked from the second transaction (judging by the times). Will soon see.
Did someone say before I can't sign up for broadband (with O2) until about 24 hours before the line is activated?0 -
Just been on phone to BT to ask for offers was given a load of waffle about dual packages for broadband and phone then triple packages for phone, broadband and tv. I asked about the new line connection offer and was told it was only available for customers thinking of leaving BT. So naturally I said I'd leave and hey ho offer made of £29 connection fee. My bill will be charged £127.99 and then a credit of £98 will be added to the bill. :T:rotfl: Very very very very very happy.0

This deal is still valid, at least for new builds. I phoned BT yesterday(27th july 2010) about this and had my exisiting account transfered in about 5 mins. And an engineers will be out within the next couple of day to set it up.
Thanks for the info it saved me £127.99.0 -

I got the £29.99 installation deal today for a move which I will be making next month. Thanks to MSE I have saved £98:T0

£29.99 Offer is extended until 30th September 2010, but to get this you have to be lucky with adviser as I called them 3 times to get to the nice lady that was professional and aware of the offer. On the top of it one can pay 12 month in advance once the line is installed to get £9.49 a month Line Rental Saver offer (valid till end of September I think).0
