  • Hi Conan(BT Representative),

Thanks for looking into this so promtly, it's much appreciated.

I would call the BT Basic team again but I feel I will get the same response since I was on the phone for nearly an hour previously and the advisor put me on hold several times to speak to her manager so her manager would have been aware of my issue.

Can I PM you the account number so that you can leave a note on my account before I call BT Basic again as I feel this will get it progressed much faster.

    Thanks

    Pajee

Made an appointment to have a new line installed. The callcentre seemed quite efficient. One things I was told on the phone: I just need to make 10 chargeable or inclusive calls (I think they can be free weekend ones or similar) per month. If this is right, makes it an even better offer, I guess.

Cooki2222 - if all this is only about getting an iPlate you're going to far too much bother. The iPlate just isolates all of the other wiring from the 'bell wire' This is an old wire that goes all round the house, and is very good at picking up interference from all your electrical kit, which can mess up your line. If you google 'cut bell wire' you'll be a long way towards solving your problem with much less hassle. Maybe someone here can even provide a diagram?
Only ancient phones use it AFAIK. Cut it, test all your equipment, and if it all works, that's it.

    Hi Cooki2222,

To qualify for the connection charge offer you would need to be placing a new telephone line order with BT. If you order a new line and an engineer needs to go to the property or the exchange to start the line there would be a connection charge of £122.50. If this charge would apply you could then request the connection charge offer.

You have stated that you already have broadband and vision so you would have an active line in your property already. This offer would not apply to you. If you want get the socket changed we would need to arrange an engineer visit which there would be a charge for. Please visit http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/public/homepage.htm for pricing information.

I have just spoken to a BT chat advisor who assured me there were no deals on line installation. I'm extremely confused by all the packages, but definitely need a new line thats for sure! So is this offer still available for new lines or not?

Yes, I have spoken with an advisor online this morning and they confirmed that they are still doing the free installation if you sign up for 18 month contract.

Hi, the offer is still available, presently until the 30th September 2009. However there are terms & conditions. You must agree to an 18 month contract and have your calls with BT as you must make 10 calls per month. These calls can be inclusive in your calling plan which means that the calls can be made at the weekend if you are on the Unlimited Weekend Plan or in the evening if you are on the Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan and get free calls in the evening. You must quote the free connection offer when applying and state where you saw the offer.
    Hope this helps

    Many Thanks
