Just got off the phone with BT and asked them to check the order, which then showed up as incorrect. The operative told me that they would send a service request to their internal team who handles the offer to ammend the order and chancege it from a 12 month to an 18 month contract with no installation charge.
So fingers crossed.....0 -

I thought I would have a new line installed into the property for my internet connection for broadband.
I wanted the first BT point to be in the back of the property in a bedroom I use as a lounge. (The Telephone cables to property's are overhead) This would enable me to get over the problem of BT only maintaining to that point and make that the only point of connection. Thus getting over BT saying they will charge if any other equipment is faulty or wiring when you have broadband fault.
Unfortunately, BT was unable to confirm that they would be able to do this and I would have to accept where the engineer decides to put the connection box. If I decided where the engineers choice of position was not suitable and cancelled then I would be charged.

Hi, I would appreciate some advice.
I don't have a phone line installed in my flat so am considering this offer. However, I only use my mobile for calls as I get a lot of free minutes, I really want the BT line so I can get internet access.
Is it worth signing up for the 18 month contract to get the internet? Or is there a better way of doing it? I know Virgin charge about £30 to get their line installed, but am I then restricted to using Virgin's internet? I've noticed that a lot of companies that offer internet seem to specify a BT line is needed.
Also, how long does it take to arrange the installation, and can they give you a specific day/time?

Hi
Just come off the phone from BT today 24-06-09 @ 1134hrs
& BT told me that as this free line offer is not on the BT website it does not exist & if I want asecond line its £122-50 or £185 to move my master socket & that I should e-mail my concerns back to Martin Lewis ???
regards

this is good but I would be worried I would not make 10 calls some months.
i can see many people forgetting down the line and being retroactively charged the £122.50.0 -

Try again and, if you get the same again, ask for the COT (Customer Options Team). They should deal with your request immediately.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
After seeing this offer in the weekly email and reading some of the previous posts, I rang BT (0800 100 444) and was immediatley given a range of options for purchase. After agreeing to the Unlimited Weekend calls only, I quoted the Free Line Installation Offer and the accepted it immediately. The whole process took no longer than 10mins so hopefully more people will have quick success now!0
