Free BT installation deal discussion

Wohoooo:j Ive just finished my phone call with BT regarding this free line installation offer and it was a success.
The duration of the call took 24 minutes in total (which is not bad) because within those minutes, I have been registered as a new customer, made an appointment with an engineer to install my new line and they took an initial payment of £25.00 which, will be deducted later on my final phone bill.
Many thanks to Andyinyorkshire. I followed his instructions and requested for their customer options team, soon as I've been transfered to this department, the application process went smoothly.
Most of the reviews Ive read in this forum were pretty bad. So, to give things a bit of balance, Im commending BT for this cost-cutting line rental offer. I guess, BT's call centre staff have been well-informed by now and they are very aware of this offer. I suggest you give it a try again today, if you have failed before.:T0 -
I recently had a new line installed with BT, after moving house, and called to see if I could claim back the charges I was billed, after viewing the note on moneysavingexpert.com .
I was told that I had not been charged for the actual line but rather the labour, and that this was over £200.
This was not broken down in the bill and when I asked to discuss this they claimed that this was for labour, despite the engineer telling me it would only cost £160, it has now cost me over £200.
I feel that I have been over charged and if anybody has suffered anything similar to this then I would appreciate any advice and feedback! [wink wink martin:money:]

Everyone with this problem should complaint to : Watchdog, OTELO & Trading standards as bt are not playing fair with anyone.0 -
I ordered a new line based on the free connection offer, to be installed this thursday, but when I received the BT paperwork today it states there will be a £122.50 connection charge.
This is somewhat strange as when I placed the order it seemed straight forward and the rep knew of the offer and terms. I wonder how easy it will be to sort this out? I've tried phoning, but the lines are very busy.
I'll have a go sending a PM to the BT company representative on MSE to see if they can get it sorted out.0 -
I think the £122.50 is officially shown as 'due' on the order but is then charged and simultaneously credited on the first bill.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Just rang BT. He took my name, address, DOB, mother's maiden name and bank sort code and account number. He told me he would place the order and call me back on my mobile once that was done. Really easy!
He rang me back and he needs a £25 payment which I will get back in 6 months
I am due to be installed on 26 May0 -
Well, it turns out that my order is messed-up. I have been told that to get the free installation offer it seems that my order will have to be cancelled and then re-ordered as there doesn't seem to be a method to correct the existing order.
This is a real nuisance as I was supposed to be getting my new line installed this thursday morning.
I still can't understand how this happened as I confirmed all the details of the free offer whilst placing the order.
Update:
My original order has been cancelled and a new one placed. I now have an install date for next friday. Hopefully there will be no further issues and it will all go smoothly.0 -

I am moving house soon, and have had no luck in getting this offer.
The 2 persons who answered my calls and the managers were all ademant that the offer is only for new customers. :-(
