The first step I think that everyone needs to do here is for everyone to send an e-mail to EVERY CONTACT they know of and advising them that TPE is a complete hoax! Get everyone who receives the e-mail to then forward to their contacts etc etc.
However seeing that the site may now be closed, it may hopefully be a means to an end.
Good luck to all in getting the refund.

I am so cross with myself, I always check out new websites before I order from them, but on this occasion I didn't
I have been in contact with my bank today as I paid by Visa Debit card on the 10th August and as Chris has gone Bankrupt rather than into administration I have been advised there is nothing I can really do, except visit my Citizens Advice Bureau who MAY be able to advise me as to what further steps to take.
A very expensive lesson learnt here I think, always review before you buy, think I will be visiting my local perfume shop in future and pay the little bit extra!!:o0 -
Damn! I've issued a CCJ against him today, didn't realise he's already gone. Goodness knows what happens now - I suspect nothing.0

Just to let you know that perfume emporium have taken my order and my money and i havent received the goods. They have posted an entry saying bankruptHello I wonder if someone can advise me...
On 21st March I ordered some perfume from from The Perfume Emporium the total amount was £46.49, I received an e-mail on 24th March to say my order had been dispatched, I still hadn't got my order by 1st April so decided to send an e-mail this is the reply I received :-
"Hello,
I am very sorry that you are still awaiting your order. I am upset that Royal Mail still have not delivered. I can confirm to you that your order did leave us on the 24th March.
I have called Royal Mail to see if they have an update and unfortunately they have asked that we wait up to 15 working days after it was dipatched until we can ask them to investigate this further.
Hopefully, you will receive it much sooner than this and I apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Regards
Chris"
I still hadn't got my order by 15th April so I sent another e-mail and got the following reply,
"Hello,
Although I appreciate the frustration, as set in our terms, we are unable to replace or refund an order until the 15 working days since dispatch have passed. This is because your order could still be delivered.
Please contact us again if you are still awaiting your order on the 16th April. We will either send a replacement or offer a full refund.
I am sorry once again for the inconvenience this delay has caused.
Regards
Chris"
Still hadn't got anything the next day so I sent another e-mail on the 17th April and got the following reply;
"Hello,
Unfortunately Royal Mail have asked that we process a claim for the loss of this order.
We can now either resend this order or refund your card.
Please let us know what you decide.
Regards
Chris"
So I asked for a refund and a reply and confirmation that they have refunded my credit card and since then I've heard nothing at all, I've since googled the perfume emporium and there are loads of bad reviews describing exactly the same situation as my own.
Any advice on what I can do next would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Thank you - I have never used a forum before. I have had exactly the same problem with The Perfume Emporium as everyone one else and had no idea where to start sorting out the problem. I felt helpless and stupid but I can see that this could happen to anyone. I am really upset - i cant afford to lose £30 for no reason. Blue Seahorse0

I'm sorry for everyone that has lost money, but the only positive side is that at least he can't steal from anyone else. Let's hope the authorities investigate whether he ever bought any of the goods the Royal Mail are claimed to have lost. I'm not their greatest fan, but I don't believe they're even fractionally as bad as he claimed. (And that's probably the only positive thing I'll say about that organisation.0

I buy mostly from ebay or amazon - who both have brilliant reputations when it comes to resolving problems.
I have just been conned by The Perfume Emporium - and with hindsight I realise that I did nothing to protect myself - I was ignorant not lazy. I paid by debit card so the money came directly out of my bank account. I dont want to have a credit card - so can anyone give me some tips about how I can shop safely on the internet. What could I have done to prevent losing £30 to The Perfume Emporium - or is it just a case of bad luck ??

To Blueseahorse.
I think the thing that has caught everyone out so bad is the fact that THE PERFUME EMPORIUM seemed to be a completely legit site, and company. The Internet has been the death of the high street!
I think we have all learned a valueable lesson here that A) Cheaper is not always best!, andIf we are going to purchase by internet, then pay the normal price from a legit company.
In these hard times everyone (including me) looks for a great deal, and we all put our trust in a complete stranger (as we do with 90% of internet purchases)
This site has been my only saviour, and only thanks to everyone else was I able to eventually get my cheque back.
For future I shall only keep to legit sites, and if not I shall certainly do a search on the company first to see if anything appears untoward.
Best of luck to all.

Hi there
Exactly the same as every one else, but I must have been one of the last people he has took money from, I sent complaint to consumer rights last week plus my credit card company, but on Monday Chris sent me an email to say he had no choice but to go bankrupt,he has also closed the site. I told him that he must have known this when he took my order 6th Sep 2010, but I soon got the gist when I hadn't received anything in a week, I am really mad at myself because I usually do my research before buying on the net. I have rang my credit card company up today and they have told me I may get my money back in 30 days as they are investigating the perfume emporium, its called charge back. Its learnt me a great lesson and will only deal with company's I trust in the future.

So sad to still see people posting here after placing an order. Dont worry tho - you werent the only ones - I am now in the process of chasing back £60.00.
But good old Chris - in his ever helpful and customer focused manner  has posted on his website frontpage:It is with regret that due to ongoing financial difficulties, I have no choice other than to declare myself bankrupt.I am fully aware that quite a number of customers are still without goods or a refund. The best option you can do to retrieve your money back is to register a chargeback with your card provider.CHARGEBACKS
