Oh dear... this has just been added to the site:
It is with regret that due to ongoing financial difficulties, I have no choice other than to declare myself bankrupt.
A further update will be posted ASAP.0 -
Perfume Emporium have declared themselves Bankrupt. I found this out today when I tried to get a refund for a product I ordered which did not arrive. I then revisited their website and found a note stating they had gone into administration.
This at least will make it easier to get a refund from your bank if you purchased your goods via a credit card or some types of debit cards (visa for instance).0 -
I'm waiting for a delivery from The Perfume Emporium. Just discovered all the problems everyone else has been having. Sent them an e mail yesterday to say that my order hasn't been received, but now when I go on to the website, there's just a message saying that the company is bankrupt. Does anyone know how to get money back in this situation?0

Your credit card/debit card provider should protect you against companies that have gone bankrupt and the good was not received. I would give the bank a ring. I also found a template letter to your bank somewhere on this site on what to say to them when you are claiming £ back in this instance.0

Posted on the perfumeemporium website.
Still - too late maybe for me to get my money back nearly £60.00 - been in touch with my credit card company tho who are sending me forms to fill in.
How can he be bankrupt? he got sent money and never sent anything out? Will drop the police contact, in post 377, an email - every little helps I guess.

Hi All,
After going through all of the routes.....
Police... PC Nigel Brown... though helpful, the police have their hands tied it appears.
Very CLIPPED...
E mail received to day.
Via PC. N. Brown.....
I spoke with Chris Collings today and he has sent me this email.
Hello,
With regards to our recent telephone call, here is your email as requested.
I want to confirm that as of the 21st September 2010 The Perfume Emporium ceased trading. Due to ongoing financial difficulties, I have no option other than to declare myself bankrupt.
Regards
Chris
I suggest you contact your credit card company/bank to try to recover any payments.
I have managed to recover my payment, £32-90, via my Visa account, using dispute.
My bet is, that this piece of scum, will be back in a different guise.
I appreciate this is a general email but I am inundated with emails about this company who have now ceased trading.
“Nottinghamshire Police and Trading Standards have met with the owner of The Perfume Emporium during November 2009, and Trading Standards met in April 2010 and more recently on the 27th September 2010 after receiving a number of complaints about the company. We have advised the owner of the company to address the outstanding customer complaints as a matter of urgency. The company is not currently trading but we continue to monitor its progress.
Please note that Trading Standards and the Police have no statutory powers to close a business down, we can simply take action against unscrupulous traders in the civil and criminal courts.”
If you need consumer civil law advice about an issue you have with the company then please contact Consumer Direct on 08454 040506 for further advice.
I hope this input helps.
Regards all. Tosha0 -
I ordered back on 16th August and got the usual story of the package being lost by RM. Requested a refund and then not been getting any replies to my emails.
Having seen the 'bankruptcy' statement on the website, I have called Halifax (I paid via Visa Verified Debit card) and they have entered a claim on my behalf. May take up to 3 months and no guarantee they will be able to refund me, but worth a try.
Good luck to others in the same unfortunate boat...0
