  • I dont believe it!!!!
MY CHEQUE ARRIVED THIS MORNING!!!!!! I rushed it into the bank straight away, and now I just hope and prey that it doesnt bounce!
Yes PC Brown is legit, and was very helpful to me. We just need to do something about the perfume emporium.
Like PC Brown said it doesnt seem to be a scam, just a badly run business!
I just cant understand how it can be so bad! I do think he needs to be closed as it only seems that he is upsetting so many people!
Me included as one of the bottles of perfume was an anniversary present for my wife! ;o(

I just now hope that my money clears, and the only advice i can give people is like everyone else says.....KEEP ON AT HIM.
I will gladly add my name to any list to get this bloke closed down, to prevent anymore upset.
  • I got a cheque!! I got a cheque!!

Now to see if it clears...
  • I am also another person to join MSE.com just to express my disgust at being ripped-off by TPE. Order placed 20th July and still no perfume nor refund in spite of the fact that I have threatened him with court action after 30 days. I am now trying to get my money back via chargeback, and that is proving nearly as painful, because I'm sure I could start a thread about how clueless Nat West have been (call this number...we'll send a form... no you need to come to the bank... no you need to call this number...endless muzak...)
I've only been had for £28 quid, and I've probably spent that much calling Nat West and sending recorded delivery letters, but i want my money back on a point of principle!

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY
Like all posts you will see, this company - THE PERFUME EMPORIUM - are scam artists. Everything appears legitimate on their site - secure SSL certifivate, anti malware certificate, etc. All this will lead you to believe things are all well.
BEWARE - you will loose your money. At the very best it will take you months of frustration to get a refund.

PC Brown is a real person and I spoke with him last night, His recent posting was in fact put up by someone else and my request to bombard him was probably not useful so I retract that. PC Brown is in contact with Trading Standards over Chris Collings and actively pursuing this. Lets hope there can be some resolution to stop this business trading.

Do you have contact details for PC Brown please?
  • My cheque cleared!!!!!! I seriously cannot believe it!
I cannot understand what on earth this bloke is playing at! Other than causing a serious amount of people major upset!
I am going to contact him to really try to see what on earth he's trying to acomplish with this company.
Ladies, and Gents, seriously the only thing I can really say is to keep on hammering away at him!
Best of luck to you all.

Chris Collings is, I've been told, being 'monitored' by Nottinghamshire Trading Standards and Nottinghamshire Police for whom PC Brown works.
  • I feel such an idiot. I ordered from the PE on 30 July for a friend so arranged to have it sent to her work address to the sound of £44.90 from my bank (she gave me cash). I had an email on 3 August to say it was being dispatched.

I consquently went on holiday from 7th to 29th August and after I got back, my friend called me on 4th Sept to say she STILL hadn't received her perfume. I emailed them straight away and received a reply on 7th Sept to say they would be submitting a claim to Royal Mail and gave me a choice to have it sent again or refund the card. Not knowing what I know now, I asked for it to be sent again. An email to confirm despatch was received on 8th. It is now the 19th and nothing is forthcoming and it is a truly embarrassing situation.

I have emailed them today and asked for a full refund....threatening them with reporting it to my banks' fraud department. I will be placing a complaint with TS too. These people need to be stopped.

Worst thing is, is if they do not give me my money back, I will be out of pocket as I will need to give my friend her money back.

Lesson learned.....before ordering check for bad press.........
  • OK, my cheque also arrived and cleared. What I suspect is that this Chris Collings guy found a neat source of temporary financing (60 day interest-free loans, effectively) and that he is milking it while he turns it around on online poker, stock market etc. Given that he seems to pay up whenever threatened with court and/or police, he does not want trouble, and he is technically not breaking the law!

Makes you lose faith in humanity.
  • Hello,
Yes I too have fallen for the perfume emporium and Chris collings. It followed all the details other posts put below. Royal mail, lost post etc etc etc. I contacted trading standards and the olice and watchdog and guess what he is still trading and some poor people will also order from him today. I have hopefully contacted notts police and after doing so Chris collings emailed to say cheque had been posted. this was yesterday so I am not holding my breath. I offered to visit mr collings in person and perhaps discuss the matter in a more rigorous manner, but was advised he had reported my communicatin to the police as a threat.

Trading standards basically say that he is sticking to the procedure on distance trading and also refunds etc, but basically he relies on the fact that as the average purchase is circa £25, that you get bored chasing give up and put it down to experience. if he gets 100 orders a month for £25 and 75% of us give up, he banks £1875 for just sending emails and taking on-line payments. he doesnt have to buy any actual stock. He waltzes away with £22k a year, while you and i work 9-5, legally.

Its very clever. I wonder if he then actually files his VAt and TAX and whether his residential address is registered for commercial and business use?

This looks like it's been going since 2008 and he is still trading. Surely there is someone who can get this guy shut down?
