  • I hope he doesnt bounce the cheque or anything mate!
I had a reply from him today to say he is willing to refund my debit card.
I have asking him to do it with immediate effect, and to confirm when done so I can check with my bank.
  • I have just sent BBC Watchdog an e-mail saying of the problem I have encountered, and that he seems to be out for one thing! Ripping people off!
Lets hope it gets taken further!
Perhaps if we all get in touch with them it might make it! I hate the thought of all those other poor people that must be getting shafted right now!
  • I had a flurry of 5 emails in one day this month:

    Hello,
Unfortunately, due to a family emergency we were unable to offer any support today (4th August).
We will resume support tomorrow (5th August). Your patience is appreciate whilst we work through all of the support tickets. PLEASE do not submit multiple ticket s as this will only delay a response.
    Chris

He promised my refund before 24th August, but it hasn't appeared yet.
  • Unfortunately I now find myself in the same position and very regretful that I didn't check for reviews before I gave this thief my money. Exactly the same scam as all the others, said he'd posted it, was claiming from Royal Mail, it never arrived. I asked for a refund, nothing arrives for a week, I chase and threaten with legal action and then he tells me he legally has 30 days to issue the refund.

This man is despicable, how can we get him shut down? How can the web site hosters and payment gateways even begin to entertain an individual like this with all these independant postings? If he is operating legally then it is by the cats whiskers.

Do not buy from theperfumeemporium.co.uk you WILL have problems without a doubt. Luckily mine was only around the £40 mark and I will get it back even if I have to get the heavies out and go knocking on his door. How do these people sleep at night!
  • See legaleagle post number 322 above and also my post number 329.

It worked for me - my money was refunded very quickly after I followed the advice of legaleagle. Chris tried to fob me off but I mailed him daily (for about 5 days) threatening each time to inform police/watchdog/trading standards/web hosters/local papers/local MP - in fact anyone I could think of. NIL DESPERANDUM!:)

Oh dear - I need to add myself to the ever growing list of unhappy "customers". My circumstances are just about identical to everyone else, but I think its important to keep posting to show that this is still a live problem.

I have hopes of getting a refund one day using the methods others have mentioned, but none of getting any perfume.

Up until now I have been pretty trusting of the Web & have bought stuff without trouble for nearly 10 years. I bought a door from a smallish supplier in Sheffield recently & it arrived in about a week. It never occurred to me (until now) that it wouldn't.

I'm surprised that the "authorities" seem so inneffectual. I've spoken to my bank (Lloyds) as I paid with Visa, but they won't look into it until 30 days is up. Nottingham trading standards were also cool & gave me a reference number but that's about it. The morality of PE's actions don't seem to count for much. It reminds me a little of the Lapland scam Xmas '08.

I Google streetviewed the address listed on the website () & brought up a pretty modest semi. It doesn't look much like a perfume empire - which makes me wonder whether this was always a dodgy company or whether it became one? Does it (did it) sell any perfume at all? I like to think that when trading standards investigated (which they apparently did), they looked for & found some stock. If not that would have to be fraud. There are 1 or 2 posts from people saying that they did get their order, but why would they be surfing this site if they had?

I can't see the logic of the scam here. OK he's got my money & I've got nothing, but do scammers usually give refunds? Its a lot of effort for 3 months use of my £38.90.
  • Looks like he's finally gone to ground - my latest email to him couldn't be delivered.
  • I'm pressurising him, but not getting any replies now either.
Looks like I better get in touch with TS, my bank, and the cops.

Further to my post above, where my emails were bounced, I got a reply from him today, just saying 'Thanks for the update'.
    Curiouser and curiouser....

Guess I need to do the claim, then.

Edit: Just put the claim in. Feel like I'm being a bit bloody-minded, really, as my claim is for nowhere near as much as some people on here, but I really want him to be made to pay up. I'll let you know what transpires...
  • I've just had standard reply no.3 from him - so he is still there.
