We have one of these and it's fantastic!!!
I do have one question for those more knowledgable than me...
I have plugged my hifi into the back of the TV so that the sound comes through my hifi as well as the TV. This works fine for Sky TV (connected to the TV by HDMi) but for some strange reason when I play a DVD (connected to the TV by scart lead) the sound comes through the TV fine but doesn't seem to be sent out to the Hifi.
Has anyone else tried this set up ? What settings do I need to change to correct this?
Send me a private message if you want - thanks0 -

How are you connecting the TV to the hifi?
If you are using the TV's optical output, it will just relay the digital sound component of the HDMI inputs to your amp, not any of the analogue (eg SCART) inputs. I don't think the TV is clever enough to encode the analogue input channels into a digital stream.
If your hifi has an optical input I assume it is capable of surround sound, and if you want to hear surround sound from your DVD player you will need to make a digital connection to it. Check to see if you have any other digital inputs on the back of your amp, and if your DVD player has an output to match. If it does have a digital output you may need to turn it on in the player's sound menu. You can still leave the SCART connected to the TV for the picture and TV sound.
If you can't marry the amp and the DVD player together digitally then the best course of action will be to buy a new DVD player with a HDMI output and connect it straight to the TV. You'll then get the benefit of a digital picture as well as sound.
I got a smart one from Lidl at the start of the year that upscales normal DVDs to 1080p resolution - it was only £32 (I posted on here about it somewhere).
Good luck!
