They didn't advertise. Somebody bought one and posted the bargain that he'd bought...then the manager did reply but hats off to him, at least he was letting people know.0

Still advertising in my book,,,,,,,,,0

That's probably why he's not posted since. It's a shame when helpful people and their info are driven away from the site.0

I was passing stretford today & decided to drop-in just to check.
They do have 1 inside the box that is on display in the window, but it is missing some bits (I was told the stand & cables); presumably it's ex-display & they had it wall mounted. I might have bought it anyway... but the lady said they couldn't sell it.
Anyhow, they added my name to the (rather long) list, just incase they get more stock.0 -

Now this would be worth the trip from Preston, but I guess that the waiting list must be sooooo long now there's no chance...0

Phone them up, i'm sure they'd add you onto it.
From the glance I saw of the list my name was being added to, there weren't *that* many names; A dozen or 2 at the most.
If they do get more stock in i'd be surprised if it was less than 20 or 30 units - the organisational cost wouldn't be worth it otherwise.
You gotta wonder how much of a markup they're making at this price though.
12 months ago Comet claimed they couldn't give staff discount on their TVs because it'd mean they were making a loss - this 42" 1080p Tosh. would have been ~£650 back then.
So, for argos to be selling them at £375 they realy can't be making any profit at all; or, more likely Comet were lying through their teeth to both their customers & staff.0 -
When I was down in the stretford store an interesting sign caught my eye regarding 'managers specials'.
I can't remember exactly what it said, but it was along the lines of "managers specials are 'sold as seen'; returns won't be accepted for damage identified to the customer before purchase."
I guess this is just a catch-all statement to cover them if a particular 'managers special' is a damaged/incomplete/return/refurb'ed item, rather than every 'managers special' falling into one of these categories.0 -
hi i started the thread not the argos guy
i pass this store twice a day and have bought a few managers speacials from them, i've only ever had one problem with them and the item ( wireless headphones) were returned and a replacement was given with no problems0
