You will be able to take it back to any store if you have problems with it for a repair

Not according to customer service HO. although I'm not sure of the legal position on this.

Looking at the website it doesnt say whether it has to be the originating store for repairs or any one. Is it a gamble?

I would get it , there is no reason i can think of why you cant take it back to any Argos if you have problems.

Ive bought managers special stuff before that went faulty and took it back to a different Argos without problems.

You probably wont get any fault anyway and have years of trouble free viewing

I enquired about this and they said it HAS to go back to that store for an exchange/fault - as to replace it with another from the catalogue..(a new one @ £499, not this refurbed model..they'd do that no probs *if* they had the stock by then which is highly unlikely)..is a completely different catalogue number and therefore not do-able I was told by several people.

Quite a lot in stock when I went yesterday, saw the 42" Hitachi's and 42" Bush TV's aswell but not as nice looking as these imo...

So before you make a huge trip tootsie, a few points to consider:

These TV's are factory refurbs. (Hence the great price)
They will most certainly have to go back to the original store for repair as a managers special. I rang CS, Stretford and my most local to enquire over this (just in case) and answer was always the same - store where you bought it.
They have hairline scratches on from bad polishing jobs in the refurb factory (when i went yesterday I saw some guys going through 7 or 8 different ones to find a pristine one!) Maybe too fussy? Who knows, - it's what you can live with i guess...

    BUT>>>

    They are a bargain!
    Great looking!
and we so far are happy with our purchase of it last week.. It's in perfect condition luckily, cos i'm pretty darn fussy! lol

chatted it over with OH and daughter - decided too much risk.

If anyone wants my 2 reservation numbers let me know. was told to be picked up by Tuesday but would think better sooner than later.

thanks for the advice both. I will prob regret it but better than the possible 2nd 400mile ound return
  • I got one! Thanks to psethe33 ! (my name was on the reserve list, but was never phoned =/ )

The woman serving me told me about the person who went through 9 yesterday; and in the end didn't buy one?! 0_o

I just picked one up, was warned in store that there maybe hairline cracks in the bezel; not realy bothered by this I didn't check it before purchase.

Got it home & opened it up - looks almost pristine; with just 1 very minor mark (not even a scratch) on the top edge of the bezel.
Works just as flawlessly as the 37" I bought in the Sainsburys bargain clearance sale.
Absolute insanity to sell them at this price!

Now just need to work out what i'm going to do with it!

Good for you hun, they are lovely tv's!

Though i do remember your original post saying you don't actually need one, just can't resist a bargain! lol.

Keep it instead of the 37", it's nicer! lol

EDIT: OMG Can't believe that person went through 9!! That's funny :D

Please could I have a reservation number. I've just rung the store & all tvs are reserved. Please message me with it, if still available. (I have sent you a message.)Thanks

In case someone has already taken this reservation, has anybody else made a reservation that they won't now be using as I would really like one of these sets? Thanks
