It looks like I am getting 2 of the SW6826 code which is the 3MP camera.
It states this quite clearly in the emails and I have had no other notification from them regarding any errors or stock problems.
So maybe I have slipped under the radar.... :j

My order confirmation, despatch email & delivery note all state catalogue number SW6826 but this appears to be the 2MP camera!

even if the email confirms the 3.1 MP camera, unfortunately Empire Direct *changed* the item at some point during this promotion. The code SW6826 which was originally (9-15 March) the 3.1 MP camera of the offer got reused for a 2 MP cheaper & older camera for a few days (I think 15 PM, 16, 17 March). After that (and MSE questions), it was completely removed from the catalog (Empire might think saved copies are not valid as proof)!!

So that 2 MP "cheap" camera is what they have been shipping to customers who ordered before the 15 March and that is the subject of all the complaints against Empire Stores (as everyone was expecting the 3.1 MP camera). So don't expect anything different for your order.
When you will receive your cameras you might want to write to Empire complaining and asking a replacement with a 3.1 MP camera (there are a few in their catalog).

But given the abmissal level of this shop I think they will tell you that nothing was ever ordered by you or sent to your address! They might even be able to deny they trade in UK!

Oh Gawd.
This is going to turn into even more of a shambles than I first expected.
I received an e-mail today saying that my stuff was ready to despatch.
Here's what they say is on its way:

Now, I haven't ordered either of these things. I ordered 2 x 3MP cameras using the discount code for £15 off.
What's this 24 PC dining service all about? And the welcome thing?

I've responded to their e-mail saying that I no longer want ANYTHING from them. Cancell the whole lot - anything that they think I have ordered. And that I dont want any cameras either.

Also, they referred to me as MRS. I kind of pointed out that Anthony is a "boy's name" and do not ever refer to me as MRS ever again.

Unfortunately, my first experience of using this board & the MSE e-mails was to order the cameras off of Empire, and its kind of put me off bargain hunting now that my fingers have been burned. I'm wondering if the old addage "you get what you pay for" might be worth listening to after all.

hi there
this is my first post but I just wanted to let you know that I have spoken to empire and they say the item is out of stock completely and I will not be recieving anything. I ordered last wednesday and it was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Looks like I am not missing out on anything by the sounds of it!!!

Maybe the *changed* item (i.e. the 2MP camera) is out of stock.
People calling them (and having ordered before the 15th) should insist in having a 3.1 MP camera sent, mentioning that many equivalent to that one are in stock on their catalog. If Empire did not take payment they might however be in their rights not to send you anything if they don't want to.

To MSE people: any news or attempt from you to address this problem?
Empire stopped the new orders (fair enough) but still is doing nothing for those stuck with the old 2MP camera instead of the 3.1 they have sold, billed and charged for.

I think somebody with a minimum of brain has stepped in at Empire Stores and understood they sending low-quality 2MP was not acceptable. So they are just deleting the orders with the 3 MP camera.
That is at least more acceptable in my opinion that pretending the 3.1 MP camera was just a dream of some web surfers....

As for your son: clearly also the 2MP camera would make happy a 7 years old and to be honest is extremly simple to use, so he will get on with it easily. What I would suggest is that you ring Empire and tell them that you would also accept the 2MP camera instead of the 3MP you ordered. They must have still on stock and surely they will have received lots back!

Thanks, It does appear that most of us will not be receiving the 2.1mp camera, and I would rather the order be cancelled than be messed about. As for shopping from Empire again, I dont think I will bother, and will buy my son a camera from Tesco or someplace else, who are cheap and cheerful for him, and more accessible customer service incase there is any probs.
