Spoke to trading standards who said we should get a refund if they did not send what was described in the advert, and it should be returned at their expense. However they were very interseted to know how long the 3MP camera had been advertised on their site before it was pulled. Any one know?

I have just rang empire stores and was offered a full refund off the 2.0 meg camera. I argued that if I had purchased something for £2.00 then I would have received a £10.00 discount. They have offered this to me so I have a 2.0 mega pixel camera and a 5" portable tv for £9.99
    Not bad in my book

I didn't get the discount on mine as I couldn't get any of the codes to work (actually had used them before!) so mine was £19.99.

As Martin Lewis sent this deal out in the Moneysaving Expert e-mail, isn't it time he got involved. As he is regularly on TV he has a lot more influence then any of us, and he keeps saying that this site is about consumer revenge on the big bad boys out there. So how about it Martin, are you going to do something about this dodgy company sending out the wrong camera? :money:
  • yes martin please help. Its a total ripoff. xxx

The Tesco camera mentioned (Premier - DS5080)has five million EFFECTIVE PIXELS -(NOT interplolated) so don't go to Trading Standards on that one.

I've just plugged the 1GB SD card into this obtained from ebuyer for £22.It works fine and indicates I can store 1475 pics on in in best quality mode.
I'm replacing a 2mp kodak camera which was a pain to upload onto PC,so the pics are still the quality I'm used to.
Of course it's not right that they advertised a higher spec and sent this, but I have a camera that is ok to use, even the Tv comes in useful as I can use it in the kitchen to watch Simpsons/News whilst sorting out tea(blessed with living near tv transmitter).
    So For £10 I'm happy.

I agree it would be nice if we could get Martin on the case, but I think your post comes across as slightly hostile, as if to imply that he is in some way responsible for reproducing an offer in the newsletter that someone else had posted on the forum.

Clearly, Martin cannot possibly endorse every single bargain posted (whether it be in the forum or the newsletter) so the usual "all tips are followed at your own risk" disclaimer will always apply.

A lot of people are angry at the way they've been treated by Empire and I dare say any hostility will not have been intentionally aimed towards Martin, but just bear in mind that he's on OUR side, so I'd say a slightly more friendly approach is more appropriate if we're trying to appeal for Martin's help.

So I say to everyone involved - get sucking up. :kisses:
(ps We love you Martin) :p :rotfl:
