Maybe she was buying to share. Whenever I see a good bargain reduced in the supermarket I buy a few but then share them with my parents, sister and 3 sets of grandparents (Mine and OH's) all of whom do the same for me. We're all having to make cutbacks and I will help my family where I can even if that means somebody who doesn't even know me or my circumstances disapproves!

What about, filling your trolley with all the reduced item's, then going to a quiet part of the supermarket to search through. Pick out what you want to keep then return the items you don't want back to the reduced section. That way you don't have any competition.
This is what my husband witnessed, and couldn't believe how greedy and selfish some people can be.

i can't believe how selfish some people are. if there's stuff reduced, i never take all of it (unless there's only one of something and i'm there first).

i always only take only what i need... sure, i could take the lot and bung it in the freezer for another time. but what if there's someone worse off than me who needs it more than i do?

if i ever get the urge to clear the shelf when there's mega-bargains to be had, i just remind myself that the next person who comes along might have only a couple of pounds to live on for the week and actually RELIES on reduced food to be able to eat AT ALL.

thank goodness we're not all like you!

How do you know I'm not the person you've just described? I didn't ask you to attack my character or pass judgement on me, so take your sanctimonious attitude and direct it at somebody else.

I understand where the OP is coming from, some people will block the fridge with their trolley and take everything.I have seen people then rummage through the trolley to sort out everything and put some things back, but not on the correct shelf. They just dump them on the nearest shelf.. That annoys me as do people who put things in their trolley and then wait for the second round of reductions and ask the staff to reduce everything in their trolley further.

Personally I would generally always leave some for others if there are lots of reduced things ...

Me too. Some of just have a general "don't take the lot or the last one"
way of thinking...but I wouldn't condemn someone else for taking the stuff because if there were other people there, they ought to have "made like the Germans" and grabbed some of the booty before it all vanished.

attack your character? all i said was thank goodness we're not all like you. if you take that as attacking then i pity you

however, your post telling me to take my sanctimonious attitude and direct it at somebody else is rather more harsh than my original reply to you.

says more about you than me, i think you'll agree.

A troll is someone who comes on basically to make a mock of the thread and say outrageous things for effect. See this.
TBH I do think the last line on Beki's post was a bit extreme, as we are all entitled to express a view and although I don't agree with the sentiment of durham girl's post she is entitled to have that view, a view which she admitted may be harsh (and perhaps a view which I suspect many others secretly also have!)
    Anyway, enough for now.
