PIN for Connect card now arrived. :)

I'll just have to activate the internet banking (Is that a hassle?) when the card comes through, and I am good to go. :D

Is that opening the account in the first place?

Unless there is trouble doing the identity/address checks, then you shouldn't really be refused. Did you ask them why?

It's not a hassle at all. When the Connect card comes through, you will have all the information you need to sign up for internet banking immediately. My PIN arrived about 4 days before the card.

You'll need to order a PINsentry device if you want to do transact online (think you can make limited payments without it by using a combination of telephone and internet banking). It's like a calculator that you put your Connect card into, enter you PIN and you get a code which you put into internet banking.

Unlike Natwest, you will need the device to log in (or enter all your card details). Not sure why Natwest believe you only need to verify when setting up new payees, but Barclays want you to do this every time you log in. It's a bit of a hassle but it makes internet banking more secure I guess.

i find the sentrypin thingy alot easier as you dont need to remember passwords etc just have your card and the sentry thing,by the way anyone know how it works? seems quick clever really.

Any update on this? Am tempted by Barclays to get a Connect card but put off if I won't have internet banking...

Tilly, I've heard nothing further regarding my 'escalated' complaint although I have phoned them and added the lack of telephone banking to the complaint. The Complaints team are speaking to the legal department to see if they can reinstate it with online banking as my health problems mean it isn't possible at the moment for me to go into a branch to do my banking. Will update as soon as I get a substantive reply and if they don't reinstate it I'm off to the Financial Ombudsman:mad: I have got a coop account though so am going to put some money in there and see how I get on using that.

I got my mobile bill today and looking through the costs I've paid £11.10 plus VAT on 8 calls to Barclays to get a balance on my account! I need to try to find another number to call them on as this is ridiculous. I do try to call them on the landline but it isn't always possible. Paid some money into my Coop account today so will see how easy the online banking is to use. Barclays did tell me today that it showed my online banking was active so will hop over there now and let you all know whether it works... or not:-)
