My guess is that your account doesn't yet have the bankruptcy flag on it - as soon as I phone up and type either my debit card or membership number in, I am transferred to a human being - it would appear I am also not trusted with an automated phone banking system and am forced to speak to someone in Delhi on the hard sell for home insurance even if I just want my balance.

Gotta love it!!!! I am guessing that your internet banking is still working? I wouldn't mind betting that the three things are linked: 1 - bankruptcy marker on account, 2 - online banking stops working, 3 - telephone banking puts you straight through to an advisor.

that was the point I was making about being misheard as the phone centre isnt here,it's funny but Barclay's seem to be doing everything they can to make it more expensive for them to allow us to use our accounts eg no online banking and no automated asistant:rotfl:

how did you open your account maybe that is why mine is still fully open?I went into my local branch but am now regretting telling them I'm BR as she wrote it down on my form in huge letters:eek:so maybe any day now it'll be picked up.

p.s is nationwide no good for you as they have online banking but I haven't used mine much so couldn't say if it's any good.

I opened mine in branch before I went BR. They picked up that I was bankrupt somehow yesterday (I told them when I was opening the account, and also called them the day I was made BR to tell them I was BR) but it seems that another automated system picked it up, probably from the IS website I would imagine as I'm not in the gazette yet - and that seems to have been what has rogered my access.

My OR faxed/wrote to them last week though to say they had no interest in the account so I've never noticed it being frozen - it may have been, as I didn't try to use it over the bank holiday weekend, but if it was they unfroze it pretty sharpish without me even noticing, once they'd heard from my OR.

    Fun and games!

Swapping accounts now really isn't an option for me as I have just told all my clients to change their standing orders to pay into the Barclays account and that was a mission in itself - so I'll just have to lump it until they decide to let me have online banking back. Otherwise I'd swap back to the coop as online banking is far more important to me than getting a visa debit instead of an electron.

Just having a look through the info that you get with the application form. It mentions phone banking, but not internet banking. Odd.

BTW, is this what the card looks like now?

Yes my card looks just like that.

It says about the telephone and online banking on their website here: http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/BRC1/jsp/brccontrol?site=pfs&task=homefreegroup&value=12866

Nope all Barclays Connect cards look like this - even the ones with cheque guarantee (the only difference is the hologram on the back) :)

    Yep, I've seen that.

Just seems odd that they make no mention of it in the application info. Maybe it was all printed before they decided to extend internet banking to that account or something like that?

Yeah according to the girl in the branch they only started offering it the same time they started offering the connect card (as you need a debit card number to register for the online banking). Which was around February this year, I'm told!
