BR Barclays Online Banking Cash Card A/C

Hello All, just wondering if anyone can help with one of my smaller problems please,
After going BR in January I went into Barclays and opened a Cash Card account which had online banking. I used the online banking facility daily until it stopped working two weeks ago.
When I rang Telephone banking I was told everyone was experiencing problems but that it was being sorted. Three days later I still couldn't use it and was told that it was because I had had a bankrupty marker put on my account. They recommended I spoke to the Legal Team and was told that online banking had been withdrawn because of the BR. I called the Online Banking Helpdesk to confirm if this was true and they said to visit my branch as they were the only ones who could remove the marker.
I explained that I was awaiting surgery on my back, had arthritis in my knees and hip and that going to the branch would be difficult... but to no avail!
Crawled into my branch today to be told that I could only have the online banking reinstated when the marker was removed after discharge.
Has anyone else heard of this before??
My benefits are paid 2 and 4 weekly and my direct debits go out on different dates so banking is becoming just as much of a nightmare as pre-BR. I have to phone Telephone banking each day to get a balance and to see what payments have gone in and what has come out on direct debits. My Sky, Orange (broadband and landline), 02 mobile are different amounts each month which makes it even more tricky.
I have a co-op cash card account but I don't like the Electron card that comes with it so I don't feel that swapping all my DD's and benefits yet again would be much of an option.
Any ideas welcome as I feel so frustrated. Big thanks.

it seems that Barclays dont let you have online account if BR someone else on here also had their online account taken away after been given it,I'm with nationwide and as yet have still got my online account so give them a try,if no joy try the 2 bank method that I also use, transfer so much each week into another bank to cover d/d bills etc and what ever you have left in the other account is all yours to spend,it'll take a week or two to work out the correct amount to transfer over but once done its great.:beer:0

Thanks Sniggings, will try as u suggest. I told the manager in the Branch I was bankrupt when I opened the account. Just wish he hadn't said I could have online banking in the first place now - as they've snatched it away.:mad:0

Hi all,
I replied to the other person on this i think that Barclays might be being underhanded by doing this. I would check the terms and conditions on this as that cash card account comes with internet banking and is still advertised on there site as so and it does not mention "subject to status" so i believe they may well be breaking some code somewhere if not a law.
I would challenge them on it to be honest. Im discharged now but i opened my account with them when i was BR and could not get the account to start with because i was BR even though i told them and i had to appeal i would do the same but quote some of what i said above as i have read my terms and conditions and it says nothing about being able to take your internet banking away just because you are BR.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

What is their justification for not allowing BR's to have online banking? Oh I forgot it's Barclays, they don't need to justify anything as they are just a bunch of expletives..BSC No: 2450

I think someones needs to challenge them to see what answer they give as they advertise the account somewhat differently than how they seem to run them which is not on.
Personally if it was me i would see what answer they gave and then give it to watchdog to see if they will take it up at the moment as the banks always raise a hot story.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

This is bad news if they are doing it to every BR....BR 08/04/09 | ED 02/10/09

I made it through!Don't ignore a problem. Unlike a bad smell, it won't eventually go away.0 -
I have this account and the let me register for online banking, I opened this account post BR and they knew my status when the account was opened. I am awaiting my passcode but have membership number for online.
I think that there may be an issue with online banking for some current accounts as it allows you to set up overdraftBR 31/03/2009AD 31/03/2010 (hopefully)BSC number 257Barclays Cash Card Account with Connect Debit CardMycashplus card0
