    Update from me as well!

Got charged £35 by mortgage company this month as the idiot from Barclays who transferred my mortgage payment, over the phone, neglected to put my mortgage account number as the reference and it ended up in a holding account as the mortgage company didn't know what it was meant for! Fantastic! Grrrrr! I didn't have this problem when I paid it myself using online banking!!!

Telephoned Barclays and no offer of £35 compensation as you might expect. Have now added this complaint to the growing number regarding online banking and have been told that Barclays will respond by 12 June.... hmmm, am waiting eagerly!

One good bit of news... found an old passbook from the Leeds, went into Halifax to get it updated or closed and ended up with a new savings account. Didn't ask about bankruptcy or anything, so we'll see how long I get to keep that for. Only saving car tax etc in there but it helps to keep that side of things straight. Wonder if I'll be giving Barclays a big round of applause at the 12th?? Good luck all, MissC

    Sorry for the late reply.

    I went BR on March 6th (2009)
    Account opened March 25th.
So it took them a little over 2 months to catch up.
On-line banking was good while it lasted

Such a shame that they have cut off your online access. It doesn't make sense. They'd be much better off changing their system to prevent credit being available rather than shutting you out of the service altogether.

Still got my access but I won't be surprised if one day it doesn't work!

Their system can already do what you suggested.....being a past customer with online access I tried to extend my O/D one day & they refused straight away online...

Wake up everyone, we have some news!!

A very nice lady from Barclays has called to say that the information held by telephone banking staff and branch staff regarding online banking after bankruptcy differs. And... that we should be allowed online banking. Apparently they are changing the information provided to ALL staff and updating their systems today so I should be up and running again by the end of the week. A letter is on its way to me from her! Also given refund of £35 regarding mortgage payment. Didn't press for about £50 I've spent on phone calls to their 08457 for balances/bill payments etc in the last couple of months as I'm just so glad to have the online facility back... all being well!! Have been a customer of Barclays/Barclaycard for over 15 years and for the first time ever say "Thank you, Barclays!". Let's make that the 2nd time, as the first was probably when they let me open an account after bankrupcty when no other !!!!!! would!:-)

Through perseverance and grim determination.... we can succeed, yeeehaaa!

Gladly, Stuntman. I did tell lady from Barclays that there were quite a few other people in my situation that I'd read about on websites etc and it sounds like all 'bankrupts' will be able to get online banking back. May be worth everyone phoning in a couple of days once the updated info has landed on Barclays systems. Anyway, will let you know tomorrow what my letter says.

Oh no, went BR on June 4 and went straight out and applied for Barclays cash account - explained I was BR and they agreed it was the account for me, I have had all card/account details through and have requested online banking (which is crucial to keep me from mess ups) - they were quite happy to set it up and Im just waiting for the online code to come through.
Great, I'd set all my direct debits up too. Think I'll start looking around.

Gaz. try again or appeal their last decision. I went into the Branch to open one on the day of my bankruptcy and it wouldn't let them so they told me to make postal application. Didn't bother with it so went back into branch two weeks later and explained what had happened last time I'd been in and they managed to open me one.
