  • It’s the start of another week, even though we are nearly half way through it already, I know what Hypno meant about it feeling like a Monday, she is sooo right there.

Need to get a grip on the finances again, the bank said on Friday that they want to do a review as anytime we pay money into the account over the counter it flashes up ‘Excessive use of overdraft’. I told them that we are happy with how the account is working for the moment. I know that once I start work again things will settle down on that side of things.

DD’s new bed arrived on Saturday and it is the only thing that’ll fit in there, her chest of drawers won’t even fit ; still she’s happy with it but she looks sooo tiny in it :)

We have done some more bits to the garden and generally tidied it up, we need to do more but it rained yesterday, we did however manage to get some washing dried out there over the weekend.

Today is the day the DH finds out whether the operation on his eye worked, we don’t think it has as he has been in pain with it and has all sorts of problems going on with it since last week :(

Tomorrow DS goes to the fracture clinic to have his arm re-plastered.

    Aim for this week:
    • NSD’s as much as possible
    • Avoid using car if possible
    • Hospital visits
    • Tidy house
    • De-clutter toys
    Aim for today:
    • Go to bank
    • Go to card shop
    • Tidy downstairs
    • Make something for dinner – Beef casserole?
I have had to pull out of the sealed pot challenge again this year as I need to money that we saved this month. A bit disappointed but that’s how it goes, I guess :(

Have a good day everyone and I’ll update later if I can.

    Hi Tea,

Think you still need a regular dose of these > :grouphug: just to get through this week.

I do hope all goes well with hospital visits re eyes & arms, hoepfully that means all your carp for the year is over & done with now :D

I'd forgotten that I'd even joined the selaed pot challenge until you mentioned it :o, things have been that dire here at times that I must have used up my supply of coins without even noticing :o:o

Sun is shining here so hope it's also beaming your way too,

    Lula
    xx
  • Didn’t get chance to update yesterday and thank you Lula for the hugs and beer much appreciated and definitely needed at the moment.

DH’s eye appointment went reasonably well, the tear is healing as it should and the pain is due to the surgeon having to press hard on his eye during the operation. He has to go back in three weeks for another check up and then three weeks after that before the consultant will give him the all clear :)

Out of my £20 for this week, I have a grand total of £8.70 left; I need to use some of it for parking at the hospital this afternoon.

DS’s school have messed up his dinner money and claimed that we owe more than we actually do.

I still haven’t paid the gas/electric bill; DH gets paid in nine days so I’m hoping that it’ll hold off until then.

Hi purpletea - it does sound like you've had quite a traumatic few days. Glad your OH has had the operation - I thought he would need to have one from your description. Hope the wrist mends well for your other child and that the broken tooth gets sorted!

Sorry the free washer didn't work out either....

Hope the rest of the week goes better for you! (HUGS)

  • That is it I am totally and utterly fed up! :( DH has to go back to the hospital tomorrow morning with a view to another operation as his eye has changed again; understandably his manager isn't too pleased about it to say the least.

On the other hand (excuse the pun) DS's wrist is all better and he has had his cast removed :D He has to avoid P.E, climbing frames, his bike and anything where he can fall on his wrist for a week but after that it should be fine :T

I did manage to do one survey this morning, so that's 75p earned. I did however spend £2 on parking at the hospital.

Hi Purpletea..glad to see you about again.Sorry,I only just spotted your diary(don't know how I missed it).
Sorry to hear about everything that's going on and hope your DH recovers shortly.Glad that you managed to sort DDs bed and WM out and that DS is recovering.
Things can only get better surely.
  • Back again, I thought it was time I did an update as things have been a bit up in the air following last week. DH did end up having a further operation on his eye called a Vitrectomy…google it, very interesting but not for the squeamish. As a consequence he has to have another operation in three months due to what they put in his eye.

The good news is that the debt busting is slowly coming along, I have sold a few things on Amazon this week and DH got a good deal with Vodafone for my mobile and we changed Home Insurers via Quidco and have some money coming from them as well as saving us some money.

I have had a look at changing the gas and electric supplier and have found a deal for one of them that will save us money so I am going to sort that out later.

DH gets paid on Friday, so that’s good and this week the monthly big shop comes. I have warned DH that this month is going to be a very tight month, especially as we have DS’s birthday party venue to book, it is his 5th and although we could have it at home, I don’t relish the thought of 20+ kids running around the house.

DS is going on a Farm trip today with his school, so no doubt he’ll tell me all about it when he gets back later.

DH has gone to work too this morning.

Catch you all later, hope you have a good day.

Hi purpletea - sympathies re DS's party - have you thought of inviting less then you could have at home? Good luck with changing utilities and saving money there. Well done on the Amazon sales. Hope DH makes a full recovery soon!

  • A wet and rather grey day here this morning, I see it is supposed to last for the next few days…ho hum!

Had an e-mail from Amazon telling me that they have transferred £5.03 over to my savings account, fingers crossed that some more sell :T Am going to raid the rest of the book case and see what else I can get rid of.

    Plan for today:
    • DD has her little friend round for a few hours this morning
    • Do washing on eco setting
    • Wash up and hoover
I have now officially stopped with saving for Christmas, if we don’t have enough by now we will never have enough. I can then start on organising presents for Dh and the kids.

DS’s school is having a boot fair next month, so I plan to do that and get rid of some more stuff. The kids have enough baby toys that can go and we have some bits and pieces that can go…I must remember to book a pitch…that can go towards the debt if I sell enough.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I have a voucher coming from iPoints that will go towards someone for Christmas; I have redeemed quite a few points with them over the last few months.

    Have a good day everyone.
