Thought I'd just update while I can.
The car is now all nice and shiny and the firemen were....yummy
all the kids even got to go in one of the engines and they were very happy about it too. We got some great pics.
Got home from all of that to find an envelope from ING. They have an incentive that if you persuade someone to open a savings account they will credit both your savings account and the other person's acount with £25! I have spoken to DH and told him that he will be the proud owner of a new savings account by the end of today...not an offer I feel should be missed.
Also, we went to the garden centre and got some herb seeds, so these have been planted and hopefully we will have herbs in the next few months.
Haven't done the £10 a day challenge, I did look at it a while back but can't get my head around it...will have another look next week when DS is back and school.0 -
I need a new bed for my DD2 who is getting on for 3 years old. The old me would be very tempted to buy one on the credit card, but I have been good and as opportunity has it, I have been referred to a local furniture project to get a bed for her.
Now, it won't be anything fancy - we're talking a very basic single wooden-framed bed - but at most I'll pay £15 and it'll be in good condition as they check everything before they take it to be sold.
Only thing is I am VERY particular about mattresses which is something I said right from when DD1 was born. I have a wonky back and I don't want to risk anything doing the same for the kids so they will all have new mattresses which are at least firmly sprung. Thing is it pushes up the cost but is worth it for my peace of mind.
What bed do you have in mind? Must say I feel a bit guilty as when DD1 was ready for a single bed me and the ex bought her one from his then student loan so she has a nice cabin-style bed but DD2 won't have that... Maybe we should start an "our kids need a new bed" savings fund!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

I too have major back trouble which is also something that came in to mind when we bought DS his bed two years ago. The bed we got him has drawers at the bottom as we are limited for storage space.
The one we need for DD must be a cabin bed or similar as her room at the moment can only fit in her cot and a chest of drawers and more than that and you can't move.
I'm still on the look out and one will turn up...I have been told that Ikea do one similar that's ideal for small bedrooms.
I agree with the new bed savings fund....you may have something there

The money for the new savings account sounds good - if you could persuade a few more people perhaps that would give you the money for the bed?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

That's not a bad idea SH. Already signed DH up for his new account which he seems pleasantly pleased about. I think that could be used as the new bed fund.
I know what I need to do...or rather I feel like I know but can't get my bum in gear to get things done.
So from next week, I am starting a new challenge of my own. I am going to declutter the house and get rid of some things and I am also going to e-bay again the rest of the stuff as well as getting back into the surveys.
Also next week sees the start of my diet, well sort of diet, I am going to spend 100 days not eating crisps, chocolate/sweets or biscuits; as I tend to snack when the kids do, I have put on a stone and seriously need to get rid of it!0 -
Another hectic week and the last day of the Easter Holidays for DS, I think DS is now getting bored and I think school starting up again will do him some good; I am however dreading the summer holidays as I think they are far too long
My diet starts today too. I have weighed myself and I am 10 stone
so this will be day 1 out of 100 and a bid to get something more like my old self and even if I don’t I’d be happy if I lose a stone.
This afternoon we have a man coming over to look at the washer; it is making a terrible noise when it spins so I think that there is a problem with the drum. Considering it is four years old and has more or less been on constantly I don’t think this problem is too bad as it’s never gone wrong in the past.
Plan for today:- Go and see my mate at my old office, him and his wife are going on holiday so I want to see him before they go.
- Go and get some milk from Iceland, it’s cheaper than Sainsbury’s and saves me a trek to Tesco’s.
- Wash up and clean hob and make both nice and shiny
- Go through and sort out the baby toys from the older stuff
I am restarting my cutting down of alcohol again to go along with my diet too so that should save us some money a month.
Right off to get motivated.
Catch you all later, have a good day everyone.0 -
Afternoon/evening all.
Well today didn’t turn out as expected, I spent far too much but did get stuff that we were in need of. I did end up with two £2 coins for my pot and some change for the demi-john so not too bad there
The washer man has been and he said that the ball bearings have gone severely and the whole drum etc will need to be replaced and he is talking about £150 for the parts not including his call out charge of £30
So DH and I have decided to go and get a replacement; fortunately the last job that DH was on the company that he works for ordered too many washing machines when they ordered the kitchens for the fit out and there are three spare sat there doing nothing in packaging and DH has been told that if he wants one he can have one as they are looking to get rid of them. DH was told about them weeks ago but did nothing as the washer wasn’t making as much noise then.
Tomorrow DS is back at school and the playgroups start again, fortunately the money for the playgroups is budgeted within the finances.
I aim to have at least three NSD’s accumulated this week.
Dinner tonight is ham, egg and chips all stuff we have in already so nothing spent there.
Right off to bath the kids, have a good evening everyone.0 -
Hello ,
I thought you might be having a new diary after you reapppeared on mine
.
Good to see that you're back on track again. I was about to offer you DDs previous bed as I know you're not that far from me ... but unfortunately it's just a standard pine one no cabin attached .
Glad you're back :A & yippee on the charity fireman wash , oops I mean car

Yaaayyyy!!! The first day of school and not before time either. I know I sound like I don’t want DS around but he’s thoroughly bored and needs to go back to school.
Playgroup is off the menu this morning, DH and I completely forgot DH’s nephew is coming round on Sunday to plaster and skim the walls on the hallway, landing and stairs and we haven’t even knocked off the blown plaster yet, so I must make a start on that. The plan is that once it's been plastered and dried, we can paint it all.
Lula – As if I could let you have a nice new diary all to yourself? :rotfl: I think that there must be something in the air as a lot of new diaries have appeared. Thanks for the offer of the bed, I would have your bed like a shot but lack of space is frustrating!
Apart from knocking the plaster off the walls my plan for today is as follows:- Wash up and clean hob not done yesterday
- Sort through toys and bag up again not done yesterday
- Think of something for dinner - any ideas anyone?????
Have a good day everyone.0 -
