I think the idea of little savings pots is good. Hypno is wrong on one thing tho - with Barclays you can call your savings pots different things... I have. The contingency fund is a great idea - we built one up for when I lost my job in March - it has saved the day. We were able to meet all of our payments even tho I was out of work most of the last 4.5 months. This meant that we kept all our 0% etc.... Now we are trying to pay things off again but I still intend to keep some savings.
Apparently, if your barclays accounts were originally Woolwich accounts, you were able to call them names.........if they are pure Barclays accounts, they can only have numbers.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Just a quick one before I log off.
Had a great day despite getting stuck in lots and lots of traffic, NSD achieved for me
In other news - I am going to be an auntie, April apparently. Despite the fall out their child will get birthday presents and Christmas presents regardless of my brother not doing so for my two kids as it's not their fault is it?0 -
Hiya, thanks for popping into my diary! And congrats on future auntie-ness - and you're right, no point in blaming kids for problems with their parents! not their fault their mum and dad are loonies :rolleyes:0

A mixed day yesterday what with pending Auntie bit and also finding out that DH has to be on site even earlier tomorrow morning; 3am instead of 4am, so DH has to be up at 1.30am, which he’s wondering whether it’d be worthwhile him going to bed in the first place.
As for the Auntie bit, thanks for the Congrats I’ve got mixed feelings about it though due to complications on the family line e.g am I an Auntie or am I a cousin? Still it makes the family tree look interesting. Anyway enough of that, I’m fed up of complication.
So on to today and what delights are going to happen? Today’s plan is as follows:- Wash up - Done
- Hoover - Done including upstairs
- Go shopping for DD’s presents and cards and paper - Done £10 spent
- Get fruit and veg and eggs from market - Done £5.02 spent
- Meet best friend for lunch - Done £4.00 spent
- Make dinner for tonight - Tapas - Done
I am going to the next town to get the usual fruit and veg but also as my best friend is watching the kids I am also meeting my other best friend for lunch and collecting his God-daughters (DD’s) birthday present for Saturday.
I did get some more vouchers from Tesco’s through the post so these have been put aside for the Christmas food shopping, total now: £44.50 plus £200 in saving stamps
I do have another card that is nearly full but I am going to work on that next year I think.
Checked online banking and no surprises there, which makes a change.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
What time will OH finish if he has to be on-site for 3am?
What's Amazon like for selling stuff? I used it a good few years ago to sell a couple of bits but then I was drawn in by ebay and never returned LOL
Sounds like a nice day meeting your BM for lunch and tapas for tea!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

Sounds lovely meeting your mate.
Poor DH what an early start...phew...
You are so organised for christmas ...that's a fair amount saved up.0 -
Afternoon all,
Jo - I find Amazon quite good for selling stuff, I've only done books, c.d's and DVD's but have sold a fair few. As for DH he will be leaving site at lunchtime tomorrow so will be home jsut after 1pm.
Have gone well over budget on the spending this week but it was worth it. Next week will be different as the kids and I aren't really going anywhere so should save some money there.
Dinner is 3/4 ready, just got the tortilla to get ready and cook the rest just needs heating up and I've done the washing up so just got a few pans to do tomorrow.
Have a good evening everyone and I'll update tomorrow.0 -
