Good luck Karen with your saving for your very own home. I know this has been in your minds for a long time anyway as you have spoken about it in the past I am sure and like you say, if the mortgage is cheaper than rent, then it does make sense. Is everything going ok for you in your first month of managing your plan alone?0

Good luck with the savings for getting your own place with OH. That is a big step! Lovely though. You are right that everyone's life is different. I am sure you will make the right decision and if u can save on mortgage/rent each month then it is the sensible thing to do surely??DFW Nerd #11520

Thanks guys, it means quite a lot to have some people that understand. I feel really bad about even considering it but life does have to move on and we're lucky in that OH has a substantial lump sum for a deposit already so don't need to save too much to add to it, but obviously the more the better. We spoke about it again last night and OH is going to do some bits just to see where we stand as of now and see if it is feesable. OH's best mate is mortgage broker so we're lucky in that sense too
I must say again though I kind of feel guilty that I am thinking of other things than debt, does that make any senseThing is though I have been thinking of debt for over 10 years now and if I carry on I don't think i'll ever move forward in life and there is so much I want to go on top of clearing debts. I have to find the balance whereby I look at both areas adn I think that balance has sort of arrived now. I am managing my debts myself and sticking to the payments and my debt is coming down by over £750 per month which is quite a lot really and that is the reason why I feel ready to tackle other parts of my life.
Gosh I am yapping on again, why does debt make you feel so guilty and bad!?! Oh well, got to get on with it. There really isn't that much for me to do in the sense of mortgage etc as OH is getting it in his name, for obvious reasons, then when I am more debt free and better credit rating we'll look about a joint mortgage.
Find it all very depressing to be in this state really as putting off so much because of debt and have done for so long - rubbish :sad:0 -
Ok.....
Total debt July 2009 = £51,195.86
After payments this month total debt stands at = £50, 248.87
