Just done a really MSE thing....cancelled my hair appt at hair dressers. This month is really tight money wise and just felt the hair will have to wait. This money and debt business is depressing :sad:0

Thanks - we'll get there in the end I guess.....it's just depressing sometimes when little things like getting my hair cut etc just end up reminding of the mess I am in......hey ho knew it wouldn't be easy.0 -
Having one of those depressing days after such a high yesterday  I realised that I am just living month to month and not really making any forward plans financially.
Yes, I know I sound mad as the dmp is restrictive in that it doesn't allow for much but for instance I know I have the usual things bdays, xmas, car tax, mot etc etc and I don't plan for them at all.
Not being able to have my hair cut and coloured this month has kind or brought the situation home a little and I know I need to be better. I haven't told OH that have cancelled it as I know he'll just pay for it and as much as I REALLY appreciate all that he does I think I need this to kick my backside a little to get back to the reality of the pain in my backside.....my good old friend debt
Now I shouldn't be in this situation as I have had the appt booked for a couple of months so could have budgeted for it with overtime etc but I didn't and now had to cancel the appt. I'm treating this as a learning curve and going to do me some rough calcs etc to sorting this situation out and forward plan little more....if only I had the sense to do this 10 years ago
I think SH mentioned somewhere on someones diary about an emergency fund....nope don't have one of these either......must sort myself out
Very annoyed at myself on the money side of things at the moment!!!!0 -
Totally with you on that.
The car's MOT is due end of this month, only reason I remember is cos I wrote it in my diary. Do we have any cash for it? No.
I did get my haircut this month, I haven't had it done since last year, as I cancelled my Feb appt due to other pressing financials that had to take priority.
Like you, one day I am hiiiiiiiiiiiigh, the next I am so low, its like its all doom and gloom. What kills me the most, is I only have myself to blame. So I can play the blame game, though its a one man game!!!** Proud to be dealing with my debts **LBM - Jan 2009 _pale_ : £24,802.21 :eek:February 2010 :silenced: : £18,078.47 (not including OD)July 2010= £16,819.34 (not including OD)
January 2012  = £14,338.75 (not including OD)0 -

At least we have this site to realise we are not the only ones eh!! I am NEVER getting myself in a mess like this ever again!!!!0 -
Thought I should focus on some positives today.....
1. Cancelled my hair appt - saving me money:rolleyes:
2. Eaten sensibly all day - just about to have me a healthy tea
3. 30 mins exercise - dvd
4. Checked online banking - realised I have none
5. Realised I need to plan better
Off to steam some veg

well done Karen on what you did achieve! Online banking is fab - it has really helped me a lot!
With regard to feeling down about debt - easy to do but serves no purpose.. Need to try and move on from that.
An emergency fund is definitely worth having - we've never had savings before and it is such a weight off. We still owe money and Martin Lewis would say pay off debt with it but I think at this point it is far more freeing to have savingsAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
