Anything you need to buy even just a pair of jeans has to go on the credit card.
Not sure what the answer is though .

  • I know - it feels so weird having been in a relationship for over 6 years, yet I might as well be on my own when it comes to financial stuff. It's not a nice feeling and it's a difficult one to describe.

Awww hugs from me too. I wish I were there, sod the hugs I'd get you so piished you'd wouldn't care a bit.

I know it's a safety net BB but if the worst comes to the worst you still have the credit available to tide you over a rough patch. I've had to tell myself that savings are already spent when I have a balance on a credit card. It's all well and good having it in the savings account but you are paying interest to see numbers in the savings account.

You know we would never let you starve honey, if your contract ends we will all make sure you are ok.

well, I have a drawer full of unused credit cards, all opened to grab quidco money or to shuffle round 0% deals......I could use up well over 20k of credit if I went mad on them all :eek::eek:

you are so lovely :A. I would be ok, I'd just have to go into AQA overdrive and after being made redundant twice, stuff like that just doesn't seem to phase me anymore....although thinking about it, I guess if my savings were gone and I went back to just 18.5 hours plus AQA it could get a bit sticky _pale_

Aww BB - have a hug from me too. I am sorry to mention it again BUT I do think you need to ask OH to give you more than £80 a month for 'housekeeping'.
Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James
  • to be honest Ellie, I'm lucky to get that amount - I've quietly upped it from £50 a month when I was made redundant 2 years ago and when the prices started to go a bit mad last year, I told him it had to be more.

£80 is about half the food/toiletries etc for a month's spend. It's ok at that. A contribution towards the extra water/electric/gas used would be nice but probably never going to happen.

Had a dream about Cruella last night :( She was calling me a liar and I just walked away telling her all the things she had done :( I suppose it is linked in with how I felt last night - I felt angry at her because without her I'd be on 34k, debt free and ok money wise.

However, that's the past and I have to just keep moving forward. It happened and whilst it has left its scars, it's opened up other possibilities in life for me. I was bogged down and bored with PR before she came along so it did have some positives, and I've come out of it much more confident and much stronger as a person.

Glad you are feeling a little better today. I know what its like with OH. Mine gives me a chunk of his wages that we can only just survive off, but no contribution for the debts he has helped build up. Here i am trying to clear debts and then he is out with his mates regulary enjoying his half of the wages. And although i realise it is him working for them, i am also raising his children for very little. Sorry my rant over as this is your diary and not mine!

  • Well if its any consolation I think you have done the right thing. Month to month breathing space(even if it is a 100 quid) is better then month to month scraping by. You will build your savings up again and at least now its a clean start of some description.

Many hugs tho, cos it is grim doing sums that don't add up.

    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • rant all you like slm - see the diary as a place to pull up a chair and share :D

Dying some bits in the washing machine at the moment, work blouse and a couple of bits for holiday to spruce them up. Another few bits to do over the next couple of days.

'Spent' OH's £80 for October on an Asda order for delivery next Sunday. I've tried to eek it out as far as possible, it won't quite cover the whole month but it will do for about 2 weeks. With us being away 10 nights I wanted to see if I could make his contribution stretch as far as possible when we are back because when we are away spending money will be needed for meals at night as we will be going self catering. I don't mind cooking a couple of nights though.

BB seeing as he stays most nights at yours, you should sit him on his arse and force him to go through all your bills, to show him that he is not contributing enough. Its pathetic that you are working all these hours and still struggling, and he is off pissing his money up a wall:mad:
