Really lovely to see you back and in positive spirits, I love the daily motivator too it just gives you the lift you need to keep on going:T

Excellent result on the weight loss too:j
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Good work with the stone lost BB :T

Why don't you come and join us on the 12 week challenge? for the debt if not for the weight.

I know what you are going to say but I'm going to suggest it anyway. Why not pay off the debt with the interest rates with savings leaving you with just the 0%. Once all of that is gone you can keep saving to put it back again.

I saw the thread, but I'm not sure I want to commit to something of 12 weeks :o I know what I'm like, I make promises and then can't keep them and skulk away :o

I did seriously think about that, but I'd have virtually no savings left :( I know it's a non-MSE thing to do but I can't do it. I really thought it through and told myself - pay it off, (can't tell OH though, he'd through a blue fit about having debt and the low reserves on my savings) and then you'd be really dedicated because you want the savings back up again. I then thought though - what if my contract doesn't continue after December for my afternoon job? I won't be able to keep saving as AQA will have to be my afternoon (and weekend) salary.

I know I should but I can't bring myself to all but wipe my savings out :o

  • well, OH has gone out. I don't expect him to be back tonight - he gets hammered when he is out with these 2 mates and sleeps at his mates house.

I've had a shower, washed and dried my hair, got a tuna salad, Glitz Mix on the radio and a hot date with Mr Pinotage and Mr Shiraz.

Had a clear out of my paperwork box earlier and have found the accounts with the majority of my savings in......I felt very stressed whilst in the shower thinking it all through. The sums still don't add up, so I am still in a slight hole unless I take the plunge and pay it all off :(

    The rough figures:

    Income after tax:

    Mon-Fri office job: 1150
    WTC 107 (until April 2010)
Teaching 100 (average taking into consideration holidays)

    OH food contribution 80

Bills plus petrol if I pay off my CC's and overdraft in full: 1135

So, my office income matches my outgoings if I pay off my CC's. Not as good a situation as I thought - bit of a fantasy I feel that there was enough to also pay the minimum on the CC's each month.

So, if I paid it all off, that would leave me 207 (WTC plus teaching). 80 or so would be used for food to go alongside OH's contribution. This leaves 120-130 per month for emergencies/breathing space/social life (god forbid!!!!!).

This would mean that my savings would be re-bolstered 100% by AQA. A rough calculation shows that I'd have about 2k max. left after paying everything off. :(

Sigh........it's hard. I wish you weren't on the other side of a screen.......I need a bit of a hug if I'm honest (and I rarely let my guard down enough to admit that :o
