Do you mean you took the band off before cooking or it fell apart after cooking? If before, then you're meant to cook it with the band holding it together for that reason, if after, then maybe you cooked it too long? I just buy a bog standard smoked gammon they have in all the supermarkets at this time of year, they were on offer for 10 quid.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

i cant decide whether to cook my ham in cola or ginger ale this year, have done both before but OH and DS dont know which they prefer
both would be good, you may have to toss a coin for it!:rotfl:Over futile odds

you can buy gammon without the plastic in all the supermarkets
Sainsburys basic gammons dont have plastic on them and neither will any of the other supermarkets gammon, I find it is only the round bacon joints that have the plastic on them

I am going to cook mine in the slow cooker this year, will be easier than in a pan
The MSEer in me says whichever is cheapest/you already have :money:0 -

cherry coke is fabulous for it .... i dont add other ingredients though, i just slowcook the gammon in the coke, take it out,
then i boil the cherry coke up until it goes like syrup, then i pour on top of gammon then bake it

does this only work with gammon or could I use a joint of pork? I think I'd cook it in the slowcooker with a can of coke.0

Do you think you could do Gammon in coke in the slow cooker?
Would it be nicer?0 -
yes I have. It makes the gammon a little sweeter to taste. Wouldn't bother again though as my son refused to eat it when he found out !0
