You can freeze breadcrumbs- the less air, the better so I use a bag. I have a hand blender with attachments-one of them is a small chopper which is great for breadcrumbs. I love kitchen gadgets but the hand blender/chopper get the most use.0

thanks zippy i did try to search for an old thread but couldnt find any!!
thank you everyone, wont bother buying them again now!!!0 -
it's such a waste of money buying them! Then again, it's only when you realise how simple it is to make your own that you can easily do it. I have some bread rolls i must make into crumbs now i come to think of it!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

are these really cheaper to make? Do i need a moulinex or will my usual blender do? x0
-
Reaaaaally cheap.
I just basically dry any left over bread, rolls etc and then stick it into my blender and breadcrumbs are made.
They also last forever if kept properly (I keep mine in big plastic tub from Haribo party sweets). And it gets fried or baked anyway, depends what you are doing :-) so I don't bother making new ones for every time I need them, I just whizz them as and when and put into the tub.0 -
They are so much cheaper. Why don't you compare the price per 100g of bread and breadcrumbs?
You don't need any fancy equipment - this thread has more info
ill merge this later for you

Dianne- hi again! I break up pieces of bread into clumps and leave it in the oven on a low heat for about half an hour. Then blitz in liquidiser/coffee grinder etc. Best of all even when frozen tends to be ` free flow` so very useful. HTH0

If all else fails you could grate them not as smooth as blender but still works.0
