  • I am glad i am not the only one trying to work out benefits. Got offered a new job on the 8th of April, found out i was pregnant on the 19th! Am still going to start as i am sooo early and just save as much as possible. I am pretty sure i am not entitled to leave or SMP but will get MA. Here is hoping!
  • Ithink you then pick 13 consecutive weeks from that 26 week time frame to be the test period to base your MA on

  • Right I started work on June 30th - so up until the date I left it was exactly 26 weeks!!!
Only thing is my last day of work was the 24th - Xmas Eve but work agreed to pay me Jan and Feb but on my last pay check and P45 they put PILON and that I worked til 31st December
DO you think I am eligible>

Not sure what to ask him but I would be telling him I will NOT be having a screen up and my baby will be delivered on to MY chest and I shall be in which ever position I feel like at the time!

I would have assumed that Germans would be all for being naked in a birthing pool:confused: shows how much I know :p

That's pretty much how this meeting is going to go. I'll also be explaining to them that any pubic horticulture from them will be soundly refused (no midwife is going to be shaving me, thank you so much) and there'll be no enema. Germany's so progressive in a lot of ways, the clinic offers homeopathic and acupuncture as pain relief if required, but have the birthing beds and insist on the screen. Weird.

My OH is quite excited to get his mitts on the Bellyfrog first, though. His reasoning is that I've had her for six months already and it's his turn. I'll compromise on that one because it means a lot to him, so long as he passes her over soonest. There will however be no screen, no shaving and no enema.

There is a birthing pool, but you're not allowed to actually deliver in it, it's just for pain relief beforehand. Apparently there's a risk of infection if the pool is full of whatever horrors are preceding the baby out of you. I don't see how, since the baby's living in that all the way up to the birth, but we'll see.

I don't know what 'PILON' means??
Just to be safe you can 'cheat' the system and register as self employed with a small earning certificate to ensure you are 'employed' for enough weeks though (thats what I have done but I AM actually doing self employed work) I'm not sure if they will check that you have actually completed some SE work.
As I said before you really need to download the form to get your exact test period tho

PS Claire the 13 weeks can be ANY not consecutive

That is so random we've not had enemas and shaving for over 20yrs in england because its completely unnecessary (although the way I feel right now an enema might be quite nice :rotfl:)
If its soo bad to give birth in a pool why is it fine in the UK, USA etc.
I look forward to you reporting his reactions back :D

Ps. I wonder if the passing to dad is some kind of old fashioned chauvinistic thing?

    Hi all,

Sparkle, Lexi is just yummy - cant wait for mine.

Greent, Im sooo sorry just reading your post made me feel sick so I cant even begin to empathise with you. I suppose I can only offer one saving grace; it sounds just like s*x rather than anything more....I KNOW that wont help but I think blokes see it in a completely different way. Eat what you can and have it out again with him, prob only ebb away at you otherwise.

Hugs and sympathetic vibes to you (((((xxx)))))

  • PILON is Pay In Lieu Of Notice
  • "Pilon is not a severance payment but gardeneing leave and is a full PAYE transaction" does that help?

    I would suggest Citzens Advice
