    You may be eligible if:
    • you've been employed and/or self-employed for at least 26 weeks in your 'test period' (66 weeks up to and including the week before the week your baby is due). Part weeks count as full weeks; and
    • you earned £30 a week averaged over any 13 weeks in your test period

suckers does that fit in with what you have been working?

hey does anyone remember/know roughly how often ASDA does their baby event? because it's far too early for me to be buying stuff now, but if it's not for another year, then I'll be a bit annoyed!!
There is usually only 2 per year jan/feb and September so this one is an unexpected bonus, Tesco and morrisons have them too usually around the same time but they cleverly don't clash with each other

  • Claire - you've only put a stone on? I think i've put on almost 3 (and ppl still say my bump is small!) last time i checked (about a month ago) i had put on 15 kilos was 65kg (10st 3lb) at the start and 80kg (12st 8lb) when i checked, but been eating loads in the last 4 weeks so who knows what i weigh now

But I started at a hell of a lot more than you are now! My boobs have gone from a F/G cup to a J!! Can't wait until I can lose some weight, get smaller boobs and actually buy a bra in a shop!

Tommee Tippee CTN Microwave / Cold Water Steriliser info..

    £6 here - 25% off with this code = £4.50 plus £3.95 delivery = £8.45 (£10 in Asda now) :D

The electronic steam one is £15 before discount too. Don't know how much it is in Asda.

Thank you so much, elle_gee, have ordered both of these from the link and used the discount code. They site said they were on back order. So i rang and they said back orders usally take about 10 days. So got both including delivery for £18.65. :T

...I'm in nearly exactly the same position - made redundant in March, was about 14 weeks pregnant. I've been told that when the cont based JSA stops I am eligible for Maternity Allowance as I was employed for the required time, which is 26 of the previous 66 weeks leading up to the due date - its the same weekly rate as SMP, but obviously you don't get the 90% of wage paid for the first six weeks!. You can download the form for MA online apparently - google Form MA1. And its paid for up to 39 weeks.

I'm personally 'lucky' because the week my JSA will stop is coincidentally the same week I am eligible for MA - 11 weeks before due date - but if there was not that crossover, then you are eligible for Income Support in the meantime.

It took quite a few enquiries to establish the situation for me - just keep asking at the Job Centre or on the helpline and eventually you will speak to someone who knows what they are talking about! Good luck - I know exactly how stressful it all is being in this situation xxx
First baby (a boy) due 03.09.09 - eeeeeeeeekkkkk!
  • well I cant work it out
    I am due 4th September
I was told I was losing my job mid december but they asked me to work until 31st december and then I would get paid the full month of Jan and Feb as I had only been there 5 months
so I would have been 5 weeks pregnant the day I left but didnt know
I havent worked since and I am now 22 weeks
Can someone work it out for me please I cant stop srying as there is no way we can afford to live just on hubbys wages
