THe NHS tends to think that once you've had a scan, unless you are having the nuchal testing then there is no medical need for another, hence they can get funny about it, but I just didn;t tell them I'd had a private scan (even though I was having the nuchal) as I wanted to be sure they would give me the scan.

They just go on medical need, and techically, if you had an early one and are not having nuchal testing then there is no medical need for another until the anomaly scan.

BUt as you;re entitled to it anyway I don;t see why it should make any difference how many private scans you've had cos they don;t cost the NHs anything.

At my 20-week scan I told them about the private one by leaving the stuff in my notes, and they were quite interested as it was much more detailed in terms of measurements than the NHS seems to bother with.

bubba is very active today! I've been having awful vivid dreams (by awful I mean scary) and being kept awake and every time I was awake the baby was kicking, and it has been kicking all morning too!

Guess the growth spurt is over and now it's testing everything out!

Got loads of work to do today so will only pop on in breaks - just off to make a cuppa before getting back to it. Having a problem cos I don;t have Adode Professional so to copyedit the PDFs I've been sent I'm having to copy and paste it all into word then space it out correctly so they can see what I've done. It's yaking ages but at least only two of the 62 documents I'm doing are PDFs or I might have to ask for more time!

Don;t suppose anyone knows a free application you can use to edit PDFs (add comments)? does OpenOffice have one does anyone know?

Got-it - I can see their point to a degree - after all the 12 week one (unless having nuchal - which here you have to pay privately for anyway so doesn't matter...) is only a dating scan as far as they are concerned... I had a scan around 6 weeks as they were concerned it might be twins due to the severity of my vomiting, but no-one had any concerns about me having another at 12 weeks... and the difference in detail is massive so I don't see why they shouldn't let people have the 12 week one even if they have had a private scan. After all they shouldn't be relying on private scans for dating or checking for anormalities surely? Well i wouldn't have thought so anyway...

so bah humbug to them I say :D

Skinty, you can download a free trial of adobe pro from the adobe website, not sure if you will have full usage but worth a try, Im pretty sure you get it for about 45 days and can do most things x
