Hello all, haven't been on here for ages, I tried reading every post at one stage but just couldn't keep up and then didn't want to read anymore in case I lost the baby but I'm worrying less now, just had my 13week scan, all looking good and low risk for downs :)

Just wanted some advice on anti stretch mark creams. My sister recommended bio oil but it's really expensive. Can anyone recommend anything else or anywhere cheaper to get bio oil?

Palmers cocoa butter is really good, it's really concentrated so it lasts for ages!

I'm on my 2nd bottle of Palmers now. Quite good price and no stretch marks so far. I've also been using Bio Oil and my preggers mate has told me she found some cheap on ebay.

Bio oil is 3 for 2 in Boots all sizes and I found it in Savers for cheaper than Boots, but not on offer (e.g. £13.95 for 200ml as opposed to £19.95 in Boots).

I too am looking for things to rub on what will be a bump at some point (instead of bloat!). I quite like the sound of the Burts Bees Mama Bee cream (I like Burts Bees stuff) and they do an oil too (about £10) but won't have the same stuff as Bio oil.

I've heard it is all genetic, but my MIL has no marks after 4 pgs (one was twins) and her daughter has tonnes after 1 pg, so it might just be luck!

My friend used the Mothercare own brand stuff until 38 weeks then she said she got bored and forgot, and that was when she got some stretch marks, so who can say......

I also had a nuchal scan on Tues (all is fine and low risk-the tiddler was ferreting about and not behaving for the person scanning!), this was 5 days after the NHS dating scan, I didn't tell the NHS we were getting the private one, didn't think I had to as it was after and I was paying! I also had 3 early scans prior to the one at nearly 12 weeks and there was no problem getting it. He was just mean.

Hate to tell you this but if you are genetically predisposed to stretchmarks then you can apply gallons of the stuff and you will still get stretchmarks...
I'm using Palmers cocoa butter but only to moisturise - not because I have any hope of avoiding stretchmarks. It does seem to have helped prevent ichyness across my bump and boobs though for which I am grateful!
I think Bio Oil will help reduce the appearance of stretchmarks after the pregnancy though :)
