    Hi Everyone

As usual plenty of drama in my life, so havent been on in a couple of days.

DD who's 8 was taken into the chidrens hospital on Monday night with acute appendicitis. She had an operation yesterday afternoon to have them out and is now doing well.

Luckily the childrens hospital is 2 mins away from the maternity hospital so im not too far away.

I had my scan this morning and seen my consutant who has said my placenta has torn a little more, so not good news all round.

    Feel so drained atm.

Hope everyone else is doing well :o

    Hey Sugar :)

Mine is apparently glucose intolerance, but no diet alterations needed at present - they will continue to monitor my samples every time I go in though and if the level goes up above ++ in my urine then they might either order another GTT or decide from there. With just over 4 weeks to go and the time it takes them to book the GTT and then get the results then the baby will be here lol!
I have been pretty good about how much sugar I consume though so hopefully it's not too much of an issue :)

They aren't planning any more scans unless the baby isn't definitely turned by my next MW appointment... Last week and week before it wasn't clear if she'd turned and I don't think it feels like she's dropped... Certainly no more space for my lungs etc to indicate she's dropped down...

Looking at my notes, it says 'Impaired Glucose Tolerance' which sounds like the same thing as 'glucose intolerance'. Consultant kept talking about 'insulin resistance' as being an underlying feature which is where I got that term from.

They told me that the IGT basically meant that my fasting results were fine during my GTT, but my reaction to the glucose drink 1 and 2hrs after drinking were a bit high - not high enough to diagnose outright GD, but enough to show that I'm not coping with the sugars quite as well as I should be.

Fab that your results obviously weren't severe enough to alter your diet - I've been drooling nightly reading about everyone's ice cream/lolly and cake indulgences! As you say though, with only 4 weeks to go, there's not really any time to make changes or arrange extra scans etc anyway!

    Hello ladies and bumps!:D

Jillie - OH and I have been trying to find out what flavour bump is from the word go but havent yet and am now 34+5. However I sat down with OH and discussed what he wanted to do at the birth... he didnt know he could be involved. So the plan is that he will relay all instructions, cut the cord, and announce the sex as it seems we wont find out before hand. Also have involved OH in names, nursery colour, etc so he doesnt feel left out.

Sugarspunsister - please let me know how the ECV goes... it seems my bubs is stubborn as well.

    :mad:Rant alert

I had my 34week MW appt and she said, well you are still breech so I will refer you for a C section. I said "erm no thank you" this caused a bit of suprise from midwife who didnt understand that I dont want a Csection unless it is an emergency. I know it is a bit quirky but personally I dont want an elective Csection, infact I dont want any elective operations if it can be avoided. All my MW said was well you will need to discuss this with the obstetrician at your next appointment as vaginal breech births are very dangerous. But I know that is bull as there are ECV available and I know a few people whose first babies were breech, and hey had no problems, just like I know my mum had problems with me but I was positioned correctly. I really dont like my MW and am so glad I am going to be seen by the obstetrician... if I end up with that woman in the room with me when giving birth there may be a bit of a situation. Grrrr:mad: Rant over :D

  • Cheapskate - I'm a 1st timer but I know what you mean. I don't feel pg, maybe partly because was luicky enough not to have any MS. Now I just look fat! I can feel that my belly is harder than pure lard would be but non-one else knows that!

I haven't felt the baby move yet either.

  • Aw Mrs Moc. Glad to hear your DD is getting better but big hugs to you!
  • Sorry to be ignorant but what's ECV?

External Cephalic Version, they attempt to manually turn a breech baby the right way up from the outside. As Sami so eloquently put it: _pale_

Healing hugs to you and your DD Mrs Moc - hopefully you will both be back on your feet in no time - my mum had her appendix out when she was younger and she recovered quite quickly :) Today with modern surgery and keyhole techniques etc she should be bouncing in no time. The appendix (sp?) isn't actually needed anyway so she won't miss it :)
