Jillie - OH and I have been trying to find out what flavour bump is from the word go but havent yet and am now 34+5. However I sat down with OH and discussed what he wanted to do at the birth... he didnt know he could be involved. So the plan is that he will relay all instructions, cut the cord, and announce the sex as it seems we wont find out before hand. Also have involved OH in names, nursery colour, etc so he doesnt feel left out.
Sugarspunsister - please let me know how the ECV goes... it seems my bubs is stubborn as well.
:mad:Rant alert
I had my 34week MW appt and she said, well you are still breech so I will refer you for a C section. I said "erm no thank you" this caused a bit of suprise from midwife who didnt understand that I dont want a Csection unless it is an emergency. I know it is a bit quirky but personally I dont want an elective Csection, infact I dont want any elective operations if it can be avoided. All my MW said was well you will need to discuss this with the obstetrician at your next appointment as vaginal breech births are very dangerous. But I know that is bull as there are ECV available and I know a few people whose first babies were breech, and hey had no problems, just like I know my mum had problems with me but I was positioned correctly. I really dont like my MW and am so glad I am going to be seen by the obstetrician... if I end up with that woman in the room with me when giving birth there may be a bit of a situation. Grrrr:mad: Rant over
I'm still feeling nauseous after that ECV video, but I agree - I also would refuse a C section if Bubba stays breech. I have read you can have a successful vaginal birth with a breech baby and I'd probably just get a IM in to help as I'm having a home birth.
Gemmagem - welcome and congrats!
Well, I am happy today cos OH and I have 'won' free tickets to see QI being filmed in May! :T We applied online the other week but the computer kept playing up and the website was awful so it took about ten tries, so we don;t know if the request accepted was for 2 for 4 tickets  cos we tried both! But yay! Will be a fun night out although I will be 31 weeks by then so might be uncomfortable in the seat.
Been working all day today and have loads to do so won;t be on for the next couple of days as I really need to get it done - at least it is £25 an hour so it's all good! DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Hi all, congrats to the newbies!!
RANT ALERT!!
Had an appt at the hosp to see a consultant today as mw said i should be consultant led because of gbs and 3 lots of uti's but mw put on referral that i was query breech and measuring large and had asked?? to see consultant.
WELL saw a dr not the one on the paperwork he didnt seem to know why i was there, said virtually nothing about gbs but asked if i was having home birth?!!! I said id been told that was not an option for me and he just kinda grunted...grrr. well he poked and prodded and said looks as if babe is head down and measured me at 35 wks (was measuring 36 wks last wk??).
SO goin back at 38 wks but thought it was a big waste of time and still dont really know when i have to go to hospital once in labour - read dif things but will go in early cos def want the 4 hours on anti-biotics b4 bubs arrives.
RANT OVER
Thanks for 'listening' guys xx:j

That first one seemed quite easy! Anyone else notice the mass of pubic hair?!!! Good God, I'll have OH down there with my electric razor before I let things get THAT wild down there.
Well, I did it! Got my Changing Bag free from Boots and guess what else?
Newborn nappies x 27 - 2 packs for £6. I had a £1 off but didn't think they would take that and the free bag voucher but they did so £5!! THEN, when rummaging for my Advantage Card I found a really old Boots Giftcard - asked her to check how much was on there...............£5.38 so I didn't actually have to take any money out my purse or my bank account!!!
And bag matches my M&P pushchair and carseat!!

Hiya gang, havn't read back yet as Im so excited to get off my chest that Ive had my scan today and been put forward 2 days so Im 12 weeks today!!:j
Scan was amazing, baby is fine, the sonographer told it off for not keeping still, he/she was waving arms and kicking legs. Wow I'd forgotten how amazing it is when you see your baby for the first time! I'll get pic uploaded later if anyone wants to see. Im trying to see the 'nub' but can't see one. Told the kids straight after..cue lots of excitement and arguing over wanting a brother or sister (dd wants sister ds wants a brother!) Then went and met up with a group of friends and their kids at a pub with soft play bit attatched and had a nice meal and told them all the happy news..cue LOTS more excitement and squealing and teary friends! So Im wacked now!!
Right off to read back what I missed
Yay, so pleased for you! Would love to see the pic if you get the chance to upload it!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Thanks for those vids ticklepenny, I'd never seen that 1st one - I definitely want one like that! :j
A natural breech birth should always be an option. But I just don't think that midwives have the same experience in delivering breech babies that they had 20/30 years ago thanks to the rise in c-sections. And whilst I'd love to champion the whole natural approach and not be another Mum copping out and adding to their lack of experience. I'm not confident enough to do it (in the leaflet the hospital gave me 'When your baby is breech' it states a three fold increase in infant mortality and serious damage compared to natural head down vaginal births).
I know it can be done really successfully and I've even read that breech births can be less painful and less traumatic to the baby than head first ones! I just would never forgive myself if anything happened knowing that I'd read those stats and put Bubs at extra risk because I chose not to have a c-section - which statistically doesn't seem to carry extra risk for the baby (just me!)
So, if the ECV isn't successful, I'm afraid it's an elective for me. I'm just not brave enough.don't blow out other people's candles to make your own burn brighter...0 -

The MW that I saw at booking in was the head of midwifery at my local hospital said that MW's often tell people that 'can't' have things because they themselves are unfamiliar with them. I asked about using a birthing pool and she said it was usually empty because the MW's don't like them cos they can't be as 'hands-on' as usual.
I think they will eventually get used to us pg ladies doing research on these things and not taking their word for it. Guess we have to stand up for ourselves and put our foot down with a firm hand!
Candice - hugs to you but what does gbs mean?
After reading the other thread about the C section on here - I had a nightmare last night but don't think it's appropriate to share as it was quite freaky (not in a sexual way or anything) and I don't wanna scare anyone!

Sugar I'm with you on this one
Well kind of... I'll be in the inbetween camp... I'd like them to try a natural birth but if at any point what so ever they recommend elective for the sake of the baby then that's what we'll go with... I will tell them though that I'd like to know what the options are for going natural with the breech before agreeing but if they say that they wouldn't recommend it then I trust them to know their skills better than I do not to mention them being professionals at this baby delivery lark and I'm certainly not
At there is a real possibility Roo is breech (she feels breech to me still but I guess she still has time to turn?
) then it's something I have to consider
