I'm a bit late, but can you count me in please - The aim is to be debt free by 40.....which is November 2010. So, about £33000 to be gone by then.
It should be more than possible, because it has always been my aim to be clear of the debt by then, but the more I can do to make it a reality the better.....
I have just returned from holiday, so am trying to get the [STRIKE]kick up the backside[/STRIKE] focus I need to get that debt tumbling down!!
Also, I have sponsored you for your marathon because [strike]it's a good cause[/strike] well no, because [strike] I'm really impressed with your commitment [/strike] well, actually, bl**dy h*ll, you're running a marathon! Well done you, and it is for a great cause. Don't feel bad about the sponsorship either - I am well under on my grocery challenge and will use the rest of my surplus for debt-busting action0 -

Thank you so so so so much :T
But be under no illusion as to the commitment - it is just another ironing-avoidance tactic :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

In DFBC news, I have taken my Barclaycard under £300 today :j by paying a wee chunk of savings off it. It is interest-free until January next year, but I want it gone!! I think that today's payment will take it to about £240, and Thursday is payday, so look out for a big payment then :rotfl:0 -
Evening all!Maybe you could reclaim the PPI? have you looked at the reclaim PPI insurance board?
Thanks Laura and Hopeful1! Will definately give it a try. Do they then expect you to pay off your balance? I heard that if you try to get bank charges back, they usually close your account. Is it the same with credit cards?
Well...more money nightmares have come up. It doesn't rain...
I need a new shower, which will probably turn into retiling of the bathroom, and the hotel rates for a 'do' I'm going to has just doubled. It's no-ones fault but...grrr!
Hope you are all well. x
PS. Silaqui...sent you GOOD LUCK wishes on the PAD thread, but incase you don't pop in their...hope it goes fabulously! I'm sure you will be great!:TMBNA - [STRIKE]£7068.60 [/STRIKE] £7060.00 Egg - 1422.35 A&L - [STRIKE]£249.32[/STRIKE] £215.00Loan - £13279.50 :rolleyes:0 -

I'm not sure but it stands a good chance. The balance on the card we're reclaiming is quite small in comparison to what we're reclaiming so we've said we're happy for that to be paid off. When reclaiming charges on other accounts i've always asked for a cheque and that's what i've been given. You can argue that you have other debts and need to distribute some to each. Good luckOne step at a time0 -
Hi folks joining in on this one.
Want to be debt free by October which is my 41st birthday. Should manage this okay as partner is selling his house and we will be using the money to pay off our debts and starting with a clean slate. However I want to get rid of as much as I can by the time we sell the house.
So my starting figure is a scarey £11,375.61:eek:. £32 paid today as a first payment. I am going to continue on the PAD thread for the daily amounts and then post on here when I pay off a chunk of my cards either through minimum payments or overpayments which I tend to do when the PADs mount up.
Here's my ticker

I have started the big declutter!! I have sorted through all my cosmetics and toiletries. Nothing there I can sell but have got rid of all the old/out of date/dried up ones.
My ex has come over to interrupt me though . Will have to continue tomorrow.
I spent my £20 in Tesco, got a TMF fabric conditioner too so that's good. Will send that off.
I have decided to pay chunks off my Barclaycard in spite of my DMP. I figure that it can only help matters if I clear a debt and it's only just under £400.
Anyway, will be back tomorrow.

Only a little £1 for me today..... and can't decide when to update my ticker.... I might do it just before every payday...hmmmm
