Hi everyone! hellowave.gif

I was doing some calculating last night and realised that I am going to be thirty  in 1 year 249 days (As of todays date) which is just less than 88 weeks away. I would like to be debt-free on my thirtieth birthday and start my thirties as I mean to go on with my life - with no debt.

Once I set this challenge for myself, I realised that I wanted this to be more than a personal challenge for me. Those of you who have seen me on the boards will know that I love a group challenge (You'll see that in my signature!) and the support we DFWs get from each other is invaluable.

So, not to discriminate and only call this the Debt Free By Thirty Challenge, join in one and all. You want to be debt-free by a certain milestone, comment away! Let us know how much debt you are aiming to clear and what your Debt-Free date will be.

The Rules

1. Let us know how much debt you want to clear
2. Let us know your target date and why it's significant to you
3. Keep us updated on your progress

That's it! I'm not really a "rules" kinda gal :D

I'm off to do some calculating and then will start another post for all the challenge joinees - hopefully there will be more than just me! This will be the first challenge I have started, so please be kind!

Ok *deep breath* my total debt is £22655

I want to be totally debt free by the time i'm 40 in 5 years time.

I have listed all my debts and how much i need to pay per wk / month to achieve this.

I have then broken things down a little more to give me more encouragement.

I have set myself the following targets:

to clear £722 in 6 months
to clear a further £1300 in 12 months
to clear a further £10488 in 48 months
and the final £10155 in 60 months

and then i'll be debt free :D

    Phew!!!
One step at a time ;)
  • I would love to join but fear that my age will be a problemo. I've just had to take early retirement due to poorly-itus but only got half pension!!!! However I could work to reducing debts by say %% ie 55 shock horror!!!! but I only feel 40 would this still count ???Please advise Flying-fresian and Hopeful1
May you fill up the great clutterbucket of life and may all of your leaks be in cheese sauce:D
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without:cool:

    Age is but a number!

I think it's good to have a date (and we don't have to mention your age again, honest!) to aim for, so let me know your Debt Free Date and the debt you hope to clear and I will add you to the list of [strike]troublemakers[/strike] challenge members :D

OMG can we have a reduce your age challenge please? I can't believe i'm going to be 40. It's really freaked me out seeing it written down like that - more than my total debt figure did

Peggy, you've got to do what's manageable. I would say reduce your debt by a certain milestone is cool, but i shall leave F_f to clarify as it's her special challenge thread ;) I'm sorry your struggling with ill health too x

F_f has already answered - i'm so slow!! Oi f_f what do you mean troublemakers?
One step at a time ;)
  • If age were my shoe size I'd be 4!!!!!!! Thankyou for your understanding! I am just going to work the figures out but I want to get rid of these so far ;
To clear £1854 in 12 months
To clear next £5000 in 24 months
I really need to aim to be debt free by the time I retire OMG in 10 years boooooohoooo I want to be 25 again sob
May you fill up the great clutterbucket of life and may all of your leaks be in cheese sauce:D

    Hi,

I love to read your F-F diary and now I have another one to follow - yeah! My 30th birthday is a distant memory but hey-ho my shoe size makes me 6 so I'll stick with that one for today as I WANT to eat chocolate as I have come down with a cold!!:rotfl:
