Hi f_f, I think I will join your challenge, and what a challenge it will be! Me and OH will be 35 in November 2010, so - can we be debt free by then??? Hmmm - not sure about that but will have a little play with numbers and work out our exact amount of debt as it stands today and we shall see - would be nice though! Will defo come back later!!!LBM 31/01/2009: £19,422

Flying_Fresian,
I think your challenge is great. I have been thinking for some time about aiming to be debt free by July 2010. I currently have £26,425.48 in debt. I have never been serious about the debt but seeing my money go to paying off debt instead of savings or having a good time drives me crazy.
Ever heard the saying "the borrower is slave to the lender" - that is how I feel.
I am also doing the pay off £20,000ish by dec 2009. I am checking the boards every so often just to stay motivated.
Thanks everyone for the great posts.
Sorry forgot to mention I'm 44 (I'm not bothered about the age when I get debt free, just want it to be soon) - so before my 46 birthday should be debt free.
BBOriginal debt at LBM July 2008, £47, 654.34. Debt at January 2016, £21,443. Barclaycard [STRIKE]£9,000[/STRIKE]£8,756, Tesco cc [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£1,136. Debenhams storecard [STRIKE]£350[/STRIKE]£263, OD [STRIKE]£3,500[/STRIKE] £3,000, Corp Tax £3,036, Study loan £1,750, Smaller debts £2,000.
Since my LBM I have not been fully committed so now I have had a 2nd LBM.
Aiming to be debt free by December 2016:D0 -
