To all those that wonder how the poster would recognise the phone , it doesnt matter if they do or dont if they have the imei number ... they are unique.True they can be reprogged , or just used abroad with another sim.

To the grammar nazi , your own post was just as bad as the one you complained about. Thanks though to the poster that noted that there is folks out here in netland that have reading and writing problems and not just socioneteractive ones....dont worry though a house will land on them soon enough.

To the op , yes the police are interested in busting known groups that use ebay for reset.Someone whom only sells phones , if your correct about the imei , this would be enough to get a something rolling for them.

Perhaps if ebay was charged with commercial reset then they would be more helpful.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I know this might seem irrelevant, but I have to say that spelling and grammar are important, it is not just a "middle-class, old fashioned" thing. In the olden ages, before mass publications there was no set spelling as only a handful of people could read and write, but when the printing press got going and they could publish stuff for the masses there had to be a set way of spelling so that everyone could understand it.

That has survived for hundreds of years, untill now unfortunately. I know that people use text, e-mail etc. but there is a right and wrong way to spell and if you use the right way everyone knows what you are trying to say. I personally find some of the postings on here virtually impossible to understand.

I also find it very depressing that the post criticising the OP's spelling attracted about 16 thanks, whereas the next post saying who cares, spell as you want attracted twice that number. That ways lies madness and chaos.
The saying is "People in glass houses should not throw stones". Copy and paste your post into a word document. Then do a spell check on it...

P.S Get off your high horse, the vast majority of people on MSE just want to help each other, we are not interested in a persons spelling or grammar.

Proving that the seller actually stole the phone would be very difficult. Even if they were questioned by the police they could just say that it was sold to them at the car boot sale. The police wouldn't be able to prove otherwise.

True, but handling stolen goods is also an offence.

I like correct spelling and grammar, but here's a crazy concept: 'there's a time and a place for everything'

Or perhaps just normal forum protocol?

    Difficult to prove though.

Bought it off a stall selling them for £50 and sold it on for £58 on ebay. Most would say the seller paid a fair price in the first place.

Is the phone listed as boxed with charger etc? If it is then it is less likely to be your phone than if it is listed as phone only.

My friend lost her phone, didn't even realise till I called her to say that some bloke was calling people on her phone to find out who it belonged to and could I get her to contact him to arrange pick up.

There is another way to check if it is the op's phone, open the parcel containing it in the presence of a 'trusted person', i.e Polic officer, Magistrate etc., fire-up the phone, and (if if allows) open the 'stored numbers'. If it is hers, then she will recognise the numbers stored within it.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

That's all very well if the memory hasn't been wiped...
