It's possible to change the imei on most phones with the right kit, so I wouldn't expect it to come back with the same (blocked) imei even if it is your phone. You might find that the original imei is on a sticker inside the phone, usually under the battery, but if that sticker's been removed then there's no real way to tell.

Changing imei is illegal in the UK, but it definitely goes on, and I'd bet it happens a fair bit with ebayed phones.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it
  • OP - how did you get on? I guess the auction has finished? Fingers crossed!

Please respect other forum users and do not critisise their spelling or lack of grammar.

Two different things. Although I try to refrain myself, because a) the grammar/spelling nazis are annoying (even though I'm one of them) and b) I get stuff wrong myself.

But, it's better to be right than wrong. And better to be put right, than to carry on being wrong.

Why would I have a link to the auction? I just asked how someone can sell on a phone thats blocked? Perhaps they can unblock it, I have no idea.
You replied it was listed as faulty but the OP never said that it was listed as faulty not that I can see anyhow.

Oh, I only suggested it could be sold as faulty but sorry if I didn't make myself clear.

Yes, Blocked phones can be 'Unblocked', but not all models for example the Nokia 6100 probably can whereas the Nokia 6500s with its BB5 security probably can't that easily

Lol, I can barely work my basic mobile let alone think about how to block/unblock phones - I'm much better with t'internet.:D
  • Well I won the phone, so we'll wait and see what happens when I receive it, whether it is in fact my phone. I'm pretty sure I would recognise it, even if they had unblocked the IMEI or even changed it or just removed the sticker etc.

If all else fails I've bought myself a replacement!

You should be able to have sellers details as well now - you could have asked to collect it.
