If the seller is getting worried you're on to him etc (or even reading this thread!!) is it not possible he will send you a fake number so you are no longer suspicious?! I think the only way to def know if it is yours is to actually have it or get ebay/police involved.[STRIKE]CC1: £354.35 / £354.35[/STRIKE]

I agree with Merzal post. I think though that you may need to reg another account (seller will probably have blocked yours) and bid at very last minute.
What else is the seller selling? What is there feedback like?0 -
Thanks everyone! I've got a friend to ask a Q from her account to see what he responds. I think any potential buyer asking for the IMEI may scare him off and he might remove the listing.
I will use a friend's or relative's account to bid and pay via paypal - using a credit card - someone told me about "credit card chargeback" - so I think I can get money money back if needed through that. As then the credit card company offers me protection etc - Does anyone know more about this?0 -
Oh and the seller only sells mobile phones, all singular (not boxed or any accessories etc) and unlocked phones. Feedback is fine but guess the buyers dont have any reason to be suspicious of him like I do!0

does this not make it even more likely that he could have bought it from the car boot where you lost it,if he deals in mobile phones he could of bought it off anyoneMoney_Saving_Mandy wrote: »Oh and the seller only sells mobile phones, all singular (not boxed or any accessories etc) and unlocked phones. or it could just be that he lives near you and happens to have one of these phones for sale, surely if he had stolen it from you he would be risking it selling it on eBay! maybe like people have suggested he bought it from the person who did take it!0

Blimey - you honestly think there are no stolen goods listed on eBay?
The type of chav-subculture that is infecting this country like a parasitic virus at the moment has no hesitation on listing stolen goods on eBay, "'cos evry1 duz it innit..."<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

No imnot saying that im saying he would be risking it a little if he lives so close to where he stole it from to list it soo quickly after stealing it.
My previous home got broke into and lots of PS2, XBOX360 and DVDs taken (well all of them actually) and the first thing the police did was go to thelocal game and gamestation with a list of the games and told me to search on eBay and see if any one was selling all the games.
I think they would just wait a while before listing it! as surely its one of the first places you would look if its stolen!
I am sure there are plenty of stolen things for sale on eBay and im sure lots of innocent people have bought stolen phones that then end up lost.
Just as im sure anyone could have the OP phone and have sold it on (off ebay) and someone else innocently has a phone they dont know is stolen.0 -
I thought this forum was all about help and advice? not criticism.0
