Buying my stolen goods on ebay????

Well I have 11 GCSE's, a BA Hons and an MA - but I earn nothing except state benefits

And frankly, if you wish to boast about how much you earn, then you can surely afford to buy a new phone
I can't imagine that the police would take you seriously for one second - nor could they prosecute the seller, as they did not steal the phone. Just claim it on your insurance and let this person get on with their own life.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

If nobody ever says anything, then nobody will ever learn. Ignorance is certainly NOT bliss. Newbie or not, everyone has the right to insist on proper grammar.
Total and utter HORLICKS! Why should it matter as long as what the person is saying makes sense? :mad:If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -
I wouldnt need to buy a new phone, when I have insurance to cover it.
But as a law abiding citizen, why should I let a criminal get away with wrongdoing when I could get them prosecuted. Would you let a burglar getting away unprosecuted just because you could afford to replace stolen items, or your contents insurance to cover it. No!
If I wanted to brag I would of put my salary down, but as you called me less fortunate I surely entitled to make my own comment back in regards to your comments. Boards are meant to be for helping people with the question or issue they have asked for help with, not for people to belittle or make unfounded judgements on people - not that's my main gripe on these boards, not the difference between have and of.
Thanks for your lovely comments, best wishes with getting work if you so wish and please only comment again if you have any postitive and constructive comments. Goodnight0 -
Mandy, purplebutterfly does not know you personally, but came to the conclusion that your educational background wasn't the best based on the grammatical mistake. Unfortunately, I think that's just what people are likely to do in the case of this particular mistake.
To describe someone as less fortunate is by no means an insult, though you might not like people to think of you that way. I would not have guessed you have those qualifications from your post!0 -
I hate to keep this aspect of the discussion going, as though I am not trying to insult anyone, some people seem to take my comments that way, but I must add to my original post. What in conversation may sound like 'should of' is likely to be the contraction of 'should' and 'have' - should've -that is common in informal speech. I still think the 'h' in 'have' is dropped with certain accents, for example, cockney, but if anyone knows any different, please let me know.0

niknaknoo, you understand what she means, but others may struggle. Imagine a situation where there are a number of unorthodox usages of language in the same piece of writing. I've seen this not uncommonly on these forums (?fora). Especially when this is combined with poor spelling, substitutions (there instead of their or they're, for example) and dodgy punctuation. Increasingly, that piece of writing becomes difficult to understand, and some people give up, which isn't great when you're trying to get across something that's important to you. That's the reason each language has a recognised way of doing things, though even within that there is some variation.
Mandy got her point across. I don't dispute that, but I was making a wider point. I spent most of my childhood abroad and I'm just truly saddened to find that many English people don't care about their language any more.0 -
Do we have to use BBC English on these forums? I must have missed that in the rules. Silly me eh!0

What has this got to do with the OP's original query?
I can see you are a newbie but try to stay on topic.
If we are now picking up on the grammatical errors of posts then I think you'll find the word is although.as though I am not trying to insult anyone
