Hello from not so sunny Northern Ireland :hello:

I can't claim much old style for myself today as I am on holiday but my step mum is making a lovely OS meal as we speak and I spent a great day with Pink today who produced a delicious OS lunch for us all. My girls were particularly impressed with her soup. ;)
We then hit the shops and as everything we bought was bargainous it definitely counts as Old Style. :D We even had some OS fun watching the 3 littlies wading through hot chocolates nearly as tall as themselves.
If you saw 2 ladies wetting themselves laughing at their children in a coffee shop that would be us. I won't bore you all to death with the details of their exploits though, suffice to say, a fun time was had by all. :o

Sybil, did you know that if you are posting immediately below one of your own posts, you can just edit your original post to add more instead. ;)

I did notice that Penny Penguin, and Elona's DH are under the weather so I hope they are better soon. xxx
Sorry for your rotten news Ruthie. xx

    Bye for now

For me, it's much easier to read if people post everything in one post, rather than do consecutive postings :D

I had to go down the garden to change the netting over the veg patch. I usually break a load of canes up, stick them in the ground and stretch the net over them. But I caught a pigeon fiddling around with the edge of the net, then he trampled over the lot  So I've put taller canes in, so the netting is higher. Something or other has dug up all the garlic too  That's been replanted.

We'll be very eating very healthily over the next few days, even though I was careful with the seeds, all the salad leaves are ready at once  Chicken salad, ham salad, salad sandwiches, meals with side salad  :D

Ivyleaf, I'll try dried cranberries, thanks :D

Over the next couple of days, OS is going out the window - literally :D Tomorrow we're taking out the radiator, WM and a couple of cupboards because on saturday, my brother is coming round to take out the window and the bit of wall beneath it and fit my new french doors :j Which I got for free :j The doors are second-hand and were fitted between a living room and conservatory so they're not weathered and are in perfect condition. And they're 5' wide, so I'll be throwing them open when I bake so all the neighbours can wonder where the fab smell is coming from :rotfl:

So I'll post if I manage anything OS, if not then I'll talk to you on sunday  :D

Hello everyone. Big hugs to everyone in need of them.

I managed to fail my Driving test for the FOURTH time today, all because I can't fluffing reverse around corners without making a pigs ear of it! The examiner was very nice, and she said it was a shame, seeing as my driving is 'there' , so I'm going to have to sort out yet another test date as soon as I can fit it around school.

On the plus side, I've spent the last two days playing with my early birthday present - a netbook. I paid for half out of savings and DH paid the rest. It's fairly basic (Linux plus OpenOffice), but it's much faster than the desktop, which is beginning to run out of steam. It 'll come in handy when I'm in exam marking season. Now all I need is to find a Linux version of Scrabble, and I'm sorted.

Do any of you cat owners know what I can do with Fatcat?
I am sure she has thyroid probs or something....cannot fill her up at all:confused:
Have switched to a higher fibre dry food to try to fill her for longer as she is constantly hungry.
It has got to the point where her dish is empty at 6pm:eek: so you have to put a few more biscuits in and then she is waking us in the middle of the night wanting food.
I am wondering if she needs to go for blood tests:confused:

    Hi NPM

just reading about Fatcat, our cat Oggie had to go to the vets as she too was constantly hungry(it was like a running buffet sometimes!!). She had been wormed, beforehand but after going to the vets and having a blood test it turns out she has a thyroid problem which we are now trying to sort out with tablets. She does seem slightly better but its only early days.

    Hi all
I've had a lovely day doing a Tru - got the bus to pevensey and walked back. Sent dnephew(15) a picture of pevensey castle and he said it was "alright" - he's also a flapper noahspennilessmummy - i will mention the badge idea to dsisinlaw.

Came back to find a caravan full of dd's bf's family - I mean honestly would you invite yourself to someone else's holiday without asking the person who paid for it - sigh

celyn - thanks for the heads up - will go to poundland on the way home tomorrow - a girl can never have too much campy gadgety things :)
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

Coming to the end of our second full day in the house. A lot of the mess has gone, things put away etc.......my sewing room is coming on, still have a bit of sorting out to do, then I'll take some photographs.

Its been a hectic 2 days really, the move went ok apart from a couple of incedents....the bed settee decided to open when the chaps had it half way along the landing to the lift.......when I had finished laughing, I got the chaps to put it down whilst I folded it back in again. It did the same thing on the way into the house, sticking in the doorway.........a bit of bad language there, but eventually we got it in.

The removers were very good it cost me £210 for 7 hours and apart from 2 lampshades and reading the meter eveything is out, they even lifted the carpet grippers for me, so when DS2 comes tomorrow he can put the wall unit up for me in the sitting room, the sitting room floor will then be free of boxes.....our bedroom is ok, the bathroom needs a bit of work. We have a tradesman coming Saturday to sort out the problems we have found. He managed to fit the filter back in the cooker hood. I went to put something on top of the cupboards by the cooker and could not push it on, I got the steps and had a look, uuuuuurrrrgggggggggggg it was thick with grease!!!!!!!!!!! I had to use a paint scrapper to get the grease off and then clen down with sugar soap....yukkkkkk, I think I may have to do them again before I can put stuff up there. I have cleaned the filter cover, but still have to try and clean the inside of the filter........not easy. I cannot understand how anyone could live the way they have done.........very little if any cleaning done......and the DIY disasters........

My washing machine arrived today, I cannot find the spanners, no idea where they are. I have to take the bolts out, it will have to wait until DS2 comes tomorrow.

Much to my suprise I sold a book this week on Amazon, its been on for ages, could I find it?????? No!!! I had it in my hand Last week, thought I had put it in the bookcase, I found it last night in the paper rack, now how did it get there?????
Its packed up ready to post.

A quick visit to Tesco tomorrow, I need a couple of things for lunch......we have run out of garlic, used up all we grew last year................
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
