Morning All, just off to get the sticky..........................
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 9 April 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Up early this morning & although I didnt want to get up when the alarm went I do feel much better for it and get a couple of hours alone in the house which I really do need in the holidays.
Think will be staying in today, will do some washing (need to check weather forcast) & will hopefully dry it on the line. Loads of ironing to be done again.
Need to get some meat for Sunday, cant remember if the butchers are open tomorrow?
Popped into Tesco yesterday and got some Easter eggs on bogof so that was a decent saving.
Left today blank on the menu planner so will use up something from the freezer.
Off now to finish my tea in lovely peace and quiet and have a surf.
x
Lillibet - missed your post yesterday - do you mean the Factory Shop? Didnt get there yesterday but have been before. Jam factory museum was a little on the small side but still interesting came home with some minature jars of jams & marmalades - there was too much to chose from, OH is disappointed I didnt get any pineapple jam - I didnt know he liked it. Are you local to there then?

Morning EssexGirl, Christabell & all to follow
Looks a bit murky outside again today - back in the office today, then the Easter weekend & all of next week off!! Woo-hoo!!!
EssexGirl, the supermarkets appear to be open everything except Easter Sunday. I don't know about small local butchers, but I would imagine they'd be open Saturday if not tomorrow? My mum is going to get some lamb from a butcher's my aunt uses - proper local farm meat & it is sooo tender. Looking forward to my roast on Easter Sunday now
Christabell - will you be warm now then?! How lovely!! And hey, if you're here, start us all up!!
Stefjb - it's your holiday too!!! So let them get on with it - or tell them they have to organise a day of spoiling you....
There doesn't seem to be much choice left in the way of easter eggs in the shops all of a sudden. I have decided (after reading a thread on here) to make loads of easter nest cakes & fill them with mini eggs for some people. Obviously I won't need to eat lots of them to check quality...
Anyhow's, I'm waffling so will send ((((((((hugs))))))))) for all those needing them & go to find another cuppa.
Have a good day all.

Morning Essex-Girl & all who cross/follow
WOOHOO!!! after today i have 5 yes 5 days off :j:j:D:D i really can`t wait to get home - although i did have plans to cut the grass on the back garden and these may have to be shelved as it`s persisting it down here.
sooooooo fingers crossed for a change in the weather for the better.
I have plans to fill some more of my square foot gardening tubs with "the mix" and plant even more veg, if it all grows there will be no room for it all :rotfl:
No washing to do today as the basket was empty when i checked so no problem with drying if the weather does decide to stay wet, later i shall scrub the bathroom and bake some different breads and maybe make more hot cross buns too. I need to ring DH as i forgot to get sausagemeat out of the freezer this morning. Tea will be pasta with either sausage, mushrooms and onions with a black peppery sauce OR pasta with sausagemeat cooked in tomato sauce with garlic and basil. I can`t decide which, i shall also make a sausage and onion pie as we both love it cold and sliced with salad YUM.
Stefejb - I`m with everyone else - phone off and get out there and enjoy yourself. Don`t forget that you spent all your money on the meal and now have none left for the week so everyone else can dip into their pockets. ;)Have a lovely time.
Celyn90 - Lol at the omelette.
I`m off to do some w*rk so i shall catch up later.
Have a lovely day peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Good morning Essex Girl, Christabell & all who follow.
I'm up early also enjoying some time to myself before they all wake upWM is on its 2nd load but I don't think it'll be line drying weather looking at it now. I'm going to the library today to get some books to read over the weekend & to collect 3 dvd's that I ordered. I got a great cookery book last week - Xanthe Clay Recipes to Know by Heart - it was very good reading but possibly better for the novice cook. I'd buy it for the children as they were leaving home though definitely.
(((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))) to anyone who needs them & I'll catch up later on when my coffee has had time to work0 -

Morning all!
Mmmmmmm, the weather's looking slightly ominous this morning so I'm praying to the weather gods for sun because after I finish w*rk at 10 (short shift this morning) and get a few bits and pies done OH and I are doing something - but I don't know what! It's a surprise - I love surprises! He's going home for the weekend tomorrow but can't really say anything because he arranged it before we got together, so today is our day. pretty sure he has a few plans up his sleeve but he won't tell me:rolleyes: As long as it's not bungee jumping :eek::eek:

Good morning :j DD made the most delicious apple bramble struesel muffins yesterday :drool::drool: We each had one for pudding, but she's intended them for breakfast, so she'll warm one in the Rayburn with her hot chocolate.
DS and I have asthma checks soon, and I have a blood test. I've been really poorly for about 8 weeks with a vicious viral infection. It's not been very specific, just general aches and pains, and terrible pain at night. I've been on sleeping tablets for the first time in my life, which work, but make me feel hung-over until lunchtime
Old Style wise:- I have laundry to dry outside, but it looks damp atm
- Tidy the house
- Change the beds
- Buy some fabric to start a quilting project for DD
- Tidy up the ivy on my old wall that the neighbour hacked at from her side while we were away. She's left a right mess
- Make HM burgers for tea (Dexter beef) to go with the HM rolls from the freezer
- Help DD with her strusel muffins

Morning All
I don't post on here very regularly but read with interest EVERY SINGLE DAY - usually while I'm bored at work!!
Hugs goes out to everyone who needs and wants one...I advocate having a hug just for the sheer h*ll of it...you always feel so much better after one.
W*rk today (so a day of yawning) till 5 then off till Tuesday. I have an image of me being very OS over the weekend and baking loads, but it rarely happens so will HAVE to make myself!
OH Grandma passed away yesterday. 92 years old and had been in and out of hospital since September last year, she finally died of pnuemonia. So it'll be a trip up to Liverpool next week or two for the funeral. Thats funeral no2 so far this year. OH mum is also not the best atm, her cancer is back in her lung and stomach and she is in a lot of pain. She has a visit to the consultant on Tuesday so we shall hopefully find out more then. The last time she went the said they couldn't cure her cancer but they could give her meds to manage it.
On the upside I am looking forward to Monday, 15 of the family are getting together round at my grandad's....He's managing ok since Nan's death in January, but still very reliant on friends and family feeding him.
Right-o I think I've waffled on enough now, best get in the shower and get ready for work...ugh.
OS today....will be homecooked tea....rosti bolognese pie I think.

RuthxBanana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -
