Even easier - use DW Powder instead of tablets! It's simple to put in half the recommended dose and no fiddly breaking up of tablets to do. It also seems to work out cheaper wash-for-wash than tablets anyway.

 Yep thats exactly what I do, Im sure it works out loads cheaper as I never seem to have it on my shopping list as often as the tablets!

  • Hi all,

I was at Aldi at the weekend and saw the Magnum 5-in-1 tablets.

Does anyone else use these tablets? How do you rate them?

Also, there was a post earlier in the thread which said not to put wooden spoons in, is this everyone's experience?

    Thanks all :)

In Mr T's if you buy the Fairy washing up liquid there is £2 voucher attached off the tablets. The washing up liq is £1 at the moment and the dishwasher tabs are £3.39 from £6.39 so works out £1.39 a pack of 32 they are the new ones out platinum or something like that

I buy 6 bottles in one go and 6 packs of dishwasher tabs.

I saw someone mention somewhere they use half a tablet in their dishwasher. I have some ordinary ones which are easy to cut but have just been given two boxes of finish ones with the red ball in the middle. Has anyone had any succes in cutting these in half?

    Hi Sharon,

I don't have a dishwasher so I've no idea but you might find some information on this thread:

Many of my friends have suggested that I halve the dishwasher tablets as it's just as effective and much more cost-saving - and I have been doing so with no obvious lack of cleaning.

Now I have received 80 Finish 'powerballs' as a freebie from Siemens (promotion in December) but realise that it's almost all uncompressed powder with some sort of liquid middle, wrapped in what I presume to be dissoluble film.

Has anyone worked out how to halve them?

  • I have found it is even cheaper to use dishawasher powder- Asda and Waitrose both do a big plastic bottle of dishwasher powder for about £2.70ish, and you can dispense exactly how much you like. We use the dishwasher at least once a day- often 3 times a day at weekends- and a big bottle lasts us about 6 weeks :p

Obviously this doesn't help with your current 'halving' problem- but worth thinking about when you next need to stock up!

I got a free sample ages ago, I just roughly broke them in half, the 'ball' bit stayed intact on one half. So, every alternate load got the ball treatment, if you see what I mean. Not that it made a pick of difference, I didn't notice it anyway.
