Ooh i went to a wedding in gib last year in the gardens, we went in the cable car afterwards and had a reception at the top in the glass room with wonderful views, its was brilliant and weather was fab (August). We had drinks in the gardens afterwards which was really nice..
Good luck it will be perfect xReceived £2,626.00 in PPI -2013:j
Received £1400 charges - 2006:j0 -
Hey girlies...
We're waiting for easyJet to release their flights from Bristol to Malaga too hehe...the april-june ones haven't come out yet so we think it won't be until September but they won't tell us anything so we just have to keep looking hehe...
Thanks for the info re: the Dell. I reckon we'll just go into the gardens and take some photos and maybe have a picnic with the family :-) that'll be lovely...
Can anyone help with another problem though? (Sorry, I seem to be full of them!) I'm trying to provisionally book the three hotels to have our Reception in on the evening, as well as booking the Mons Culpe Suite for the afternoon and trying to book a Church as an alternative wedding venue but no-one semms to get back to me! I've spoken to all three hotels over the phone who gave me a bit of information about Receptions and then told me to email them which I did on Tuesday. I can't get hold of anyone from one of the churches as I only have a phone number which no-one ever answers and am waiting for a reply from the Rev. from the other church. I've had nothing back from the Suite at all and haven't even had confirmation from the Dell about my provisional booking! I am just being very impatient (quite likely lol) or should I be doing more chasing?? I just want to have everything provisionally booked so we can go out in October to have a look around everything and then confirm the bookings and pay the deposits. It's quite frustrating really!!
Sorry I can't remember who posted about the Dell contact (was her name Pam/Pat?) but I'll have a look back through the threads now and send her an email. Maybe I'll ring around everyone again today and see what happens...
Thanks for listening hehe...
xx

Hi Bassibabes!
You've got to remember that this isn't Britain and although they will tell you they are more British than Spanish 'manana (manyana)' is the order of the day!
My daughter tells me that come mid June some places (mostly government offices I believe) close in the afternoons as in the summer months it's too hot to work in the afternoon!
My daughter sent her email with documents attatched to the regisrar on Sunday so it could be opened 1st thing Monday, she hasn't had a reply yet. It's so frustrating because she wants the date with the registrar confrimed before she contacts the Gardens!
Be patient - and persistant!0 -
Umm " be patient".....
Aaaaaaagh!!!!!:(
Sorry, feel so much better for that!
DD sent an email with copies of birth certificates and passports attatched to that they could provisionally book a date for their wedding - over a week later and there's been no reply!!!!!
It's so frustrating!
Ok, feel better for letting all that out, will now go and lie down in a darkened room for a little while...0 -
Hi everyone,
I thought I would let you know I am getting married at the Dell on 31st July at 7pm this year. Really glad I read these messages as I have been unsure what it would be like. Went to Gibraltar for the day last year while driving across spain and thought it would be a great idea to get married there. I still have a reception to arrange as I thought it would just be future hubbie and I but now about 15 people are coming. Any thoughts on a reception, we are staying in the O'Callaghan elliot hotel, ive only arranged the hotel and wedding. Needs as much advice as possible. only 7 weeks to go!0 -
Hi sptaz75!
Congratulations on your wedding!
Have you considered a meal in a restaurant?
There are some fab places I believe in the new waterfront complex, that's where my daughter got engaged last year and is thinking of having her meal (depending on nos.), alternatively you could book the mon calpe (sp?) suit at the cable car station on the top of the rock. Get married in the garden then take the cable car up to the top!
You haven't got long to organise it, 7 weeks eek!0 -
Hi sal-ad daze!
Yes I thought about a restaurant, need to make some serious phone calls this weekend. Its all getting quite exciting now but think I should have sorted some of the wedding out a bit earlier, nevermind the excitement should keep me busy! At least I have arranged the place and registrar, which is the main thing. All the messages on the forum have given me some relief as I was afraid it was not the best venue but it seems like a good choice now. (I hope)0 -
spatz75,
Don't know if I'm suppossed to do this but there is a Gibraltar thread in the Weddings Abroad section of www.you&yourwedding.co.uk forums. There are girls there who've used restaurants and who actually live over there so you may get some tips if you 'dip' in there.

Woo Hoo! Got the date, just waiting for confirmation of the time from the Dell!:T
Wednesday 4th August 2010, an evening wedding; soooo excited!!!!:j
Has anyone had a champagne reception at the Dell?
How long did you allow for this before moving off to the meal and, if you don't mind, how much per head did it cost?
skips off to do a celebratory jig!0 -
