Hey guys (and girls!),
Thanks for the adviceI've had a look at mygibraltar but also found a load of help and contacts on this site:- http://www.gibraltar.gov.uk/gettingMarried.php
Am taking the plunge and ringing the Registrar tomorrow and going to try and book the 14th July next year for about 2 ish and see how we get on. We like the look of St Andrew's Church so might try and book that it as well as the Dell so we have a few options to confirm when we go over in October
Does anyone have one of those cheap numbers to use to ring Gib? Have a feeling I might need it a lot over the next year ;-)
We're very likely going to be staying in Spain and then will hire a fleet of Zafiras to drive everyone in - will be cheaper and easier. We've found a little complex that has loads of self-catering apartments so we can hopefully book them in for the wedding guests.
Watch this space for a provisional wedding date! Am so excited hehe xx

Hi Bassibabe
A word of warning it can be a nighmare getting through on the phone so if you have no luck send them a mail, I got more joy that way.
Good luck xxx0 -
Hey everyone well I took the plunge and emailed the Registrar and had to email over our documents and am now at the mercy of their diary! Emailed everything over hours ago and I guess they're closed now
will need to wait til tomorrow for the negotiations over date to begin.
Have also worked out that there are only two churches we can get married in. One is St Andrews wich currently has no minister so not sure if we can book anything but there was no answer and the other one is Our Lady of Sorrows but there was no answer there either. Tried speaking to somoene at the Mons Culpe Suite (how do you pronounce that by the way?!) and they put me through to the Tourist Board for some reason so I've resorted to email there. Rang the three hotels about having the Reception there and waiting for all of them to email me the stuff!! Tried to provisionally book the Dell but they won't do anything without a date from the Registrar. the good thing is that everyone I spoke with will take provisional bookings with no deposits until we go out in October...
Quite a disappointing day reallyhopefully everything will get a bit more sorted tomorrow...
Has anyone thought about flowers? Am thinking I may go with silk ones which I can have made here and then take over (apparently hat boxes are good!). It just means it's one more thing I can get done here and not have to stress over from a distance lol...

Hi Bassibabes
I was going to have silk flowers but when I visited the Dell I realised it would be terrible to have artificial flowers in a place that is surrounded by gorgeous flowers, plants, fruit trees etc. So my OH and me are going to visit some florists when we go out in July, i'll let you know how we get on. I def want real ones tho after visiting.
Hope you get some replies to your emails tomorrow. xx0 -
Thans Herbiecat and good plan - hadn't thought of that. Hopefully we'll be able to book a church and won't be going to the Dell on the day as this is H2B's first choice and then i can have silk flowers hehe
seen some absolutely beautiful silk bouquets that I love
Can you go and visit the Dell without booking? We were thinking of going there the day before the wedding and having some photos taken but not sure if that's ok? Can you take a picnic or anything?
xx

Hiya
Yes you can go and visit but im not sure about a picnic because of any weddings that may be going on. The Dell is a small area within Alameda Gardens and there will be places within the main gardens. Somewhere within this thread is the email address for Pat who is charge of the boookings for the dell, if you cant find it PM me and i'll pass it on. She is really really lovely and helpful and im sure she will be able to tell you about visiting etc.
Iv got some pics that I took when I went over, if you tell me your email address i'll send them on.

Ladies, sorry to butt in your thread. I was searching for cheap flights to Gib when I came across this thread. I have to say ladies, you are soooo lucky. I am a very jealous girl at the moment.
I would LOVE to get married in Gib, but I am still waiting for the rock, let alone getting to the rock. My OH and I are in the TA so fell in love in Gib when we were on annual camp. Two weeks of sweating in tunnels fighting through the rock does wonders for romance you know. My having to give him a tetanus injection after he got bitten by one of the apes helped too.....
I just wanted to say congratulations ladies and I hope one day I am in your situation, whereby I will scoop up all this advice! :A0 -
Ahh thanks birduk, yes I agree I am very lucky, like you I love Gib I grew up coz my dad was in the Navy and was drafted there twice and iv always wanted to get married there.
Can't believe your other half got bit by an ape lol, poor thing I bet that bloody hurt. They pinched a sweetie off me when I was 5, my mom thought it was going to run off me with me!!
Good luck with the flights, im waiting for them to be released for May next year so I can book ours for the wedding

Bassibabes, they charge for wedding photos in the Dell and will only do it for the bride and groom, don't know about the day before. The Botanical gardens are public I think so if you're going for a wander they can't stop you taking photos, if the Dell is being used for weddings then obviously you won't be allowed there, don't know about picnics though!
Herbiecat, we're waiting for flights too! we've decided to go Monarch from Manchester and they're booking to May next year so not long now!!!!0 -
Hi Sal can you let me know if you notice the June ones go on sale, I keep checking and should get an email from Monarch but you never know I might miss them.
