Its your wedding so if you don't want one thats fine. I wouldn't be bothered about having one but thats because I have Coeliac disease so I cant eat it anyway - Im so selfish lol.
And its not stupid for a 45 yr old to be excited, im 38 and I cant wait!!!
I just hope you get it booked soon so you know what the heck you are doing.0 -

Like sticking to a diet when I go to Spain, or sticking to diet at all  I hate it.
Have to speak to the hotel about my 'needs' but if it gets too much hassle I'll abandon it and enjoy myselfMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -

Ok the rings are sorted - mine just has to be made a little larger but need to check it properly when my hands arent so hot.
OH has chosen what he is going to wear
We have spoken on the phone to the venue who sound like they will be stars and arrange some of the stuff tht we cant do in the 2 days between flying out and getting hitched. They are also happy to work round my dietary requirements.
OH has said it will be better if we tell my family beforehand and I kinda agree with him but I dont know if I can deal with itMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
I just wanted to jump in on this thread so apologies, Iv been reading it since the beginning as me and my boyfriend love the thought of getting married here. I havent been in over ten years and I know he would find the place so pretty. We are not exactly engaged yet although we have decided we want to get married and Im just waiting for him to asking me properly as he's quite traditional in that he wants to do it right...
So I feel a little bit of a cheat planning our wedding but I just had to join in and share my thoughts with everyone on here...
My main problem with getting married is my marriage certificate from my previous marriage was handed in when I got my divorced however we got married in the Bahamas so getting hold of another one is going to prove rather tricky. Luckily due to planning and the obsession of not allowing ourselves to get into debt with a wedding we are hoping to book in April 2011 so plenty of time yet!
Heres our plans so far;
We are hoping we have around 10-20 guests joining us although till we are officially engaged all this is hush hush. We will fly over from Blackpool/Liverpool/Manchester to Malaga and hopefully all have villa's in spain but close to the border of Gibraltar.
I would like to have welcome fruit/wine baskets for everyone when they arrive so will probably get there a day or two before everyone else. I will also arrange gifts for the children(4) to entertain them after the wedding.
On the day of the wedding we will have to organise some way of getting all the guests to gibraltar and hopefully get married in the Dell. My uncle is an excellent photographer so we are hoping to get some lovely photos there and on the beach. We will then allow the guests some free time in Gibraltar(ideally wanting to take everyone on the dolphin boat trip but not sure if finances will allow) to wander round before arranging coach transport back to our villa. We are hoping to have drinks and a barbecue at our villa around the pool area so everyon can relax. Hopefully the villa will be decorated with balloons and decorations before we leave in the morning.
I know this is a lot of organising from my point of view but Id love to have all our friends and family together to relax all evening and the kids can play in the pool.
I hoping to get mine and my daughters flowergirl dress of Landy just wish the site wasn't so slow. Were going for a turqoise and white theme to go with the sea.
Can anyone spot any problems in what im suggesting or any inspiration?
So far including rings, transport, accomodation, wedding fees for dell, dresses, etc we have a price list of between £2250 and £4500 depending on how much we shell out for everyone else.
Thanks and I look forward to reading more of your stories :-) xSaving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
£11,860.00 needed = £1,106 in savings

Wow julez you're organised!
Welcome to the thread (officially) by the way!
My daughter's colours are the same as yours - for the same reason! lol
Herbiecat may be able to help you re transporting the guests as she and her guests will be based around Torremelinos where her Mum lives.
We have booked an apartment in La duquesa and some people are looking at sotogrande which is a bit nearer Gibraltar.
Monarch fly direct to Gibraltar from Manchester and it takes about 20 minutes then up to both places, Malaga can take over 2 hrs so if families have young children that may be a point to consider.
Can't think of anything else just yet but will no doubt be back!0 -
Sotogrande is a LOT more expensive than Duquesa (but we are big fans of Duq anyway. my parents having had a time share there for 20 years +)
We paid 893 euros when we booked back in Jan for a 2 bed apartment in the Marina Real complex ahich is in a great location, step out of the garden gate and you are onto the beach.
The website is www.duquesa.netMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Any tips Kaz, we have an apartment booked for the full 6 weeks hols (got a fantastic MSE deal!) in castillo duquesa.
Places to go, places to eat etc. all tips gratefully received!0
